Fitness Minutes: 2,220

My Goals:
Lose 93 pounds
Not having to use a walking stick to walk
squatting on the floor for my Namaz
Want to surprise my children with my healthy lifestyle. Haven't told them about joining SP.


My Program:
 I am right now into trying to maintain a healthy diet.
Have enrolled with a physical trainer, who will visit me twice a week to help me with some exercises.
Would love to get to know people of my age and how they are dealing with such situations and learn from their success.


Personal Information:
I am an 83 year old from Lucknow India. A practicing muslim, my husband and I live on the ground floor of an apartment where our children live in the top floors. A mother of 6, grandma of 19, great-grandma of 40 and a great-great-grandma of 2 on last count.


Other Information:
 I love reading. I still thrive on Mills & Boons though I have teenaged great-grands. They actually borrow my books.

    Hi Sairahk,
    They gave me the option of spinal anesthesia wish is safer than general anesthesia. My knee has no pain at all and I am walking perfectly after only three weeks! More important than your age is the determination to lead life to its fullest. Losing weight is very important because until you get to a certain weight they will not do the surgery. I met an older gentleman and his wife. He had both of his knees and his hip replaced and he said he is doing wonderfully and is riding a bike twenty miles a trip! He also told me that hip surgery is easier that knee surgery which surprised me. As long as you have joy and love in your life and are able to do the things you wish to do, it doesn't matter if you have trouble with your knees and hip. I fixed mine because I couldn't live the life I wanted without having it replaced and I am 57. You may find if you continue to lose weight and work on moving round as much as you are able you'll have a full and happy life without surgery! I wish you well!

    I'm approaching 70 in 15 months. This life long struggle has keep me down WAY TOO LONG - both physically & emotionalky. I, too, have decided to live my 7th decade on earth as healthy as possible. Have a peaceful day.
