Hello and welcome! I've been gone for a while but I am back (July 17, 2008).

I read a quote on this site years ago that said "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" - boy does that ring true to me.

I used to weigh 163-167 pounds, which was not excessive for me at a US size 8. I wasn't 100% comfortable with it though.

October 2007 I started getting into yoga hard core. I fell in love with it. After each class I would look forward to the next one... a feeling I never left the gym with. It worked!

As I did more and more yoga, I started to become more conscious of how I felt after eating certain types of foods. After doing loads of research on diet and nutrition, I decided to drop the meats (w/ the exception of fish) and drop the dairy. I don't know whether I fit into a category of vegetarian or vegan but that's the foundation. I have NEVER FELT BETTER!!!

I won't lie, there was about 45 days of detox which was more than uncomfortable. After getting over the hump, I have never looked back. Keeping fish has allowed me to maintain a normal lifestyle without issues. I can eat out practically anywhere without trouble. And I find that the menu choices that fit into my lifestyle are often the healthiest items on the menu, so the healthy choice is an easy one. The beautiful thing is, I don't feel like I'm on a diet (which I have never been good at).

The weight loss was immediate. I have to focus on getting the right levels of protein, but once I figured it out it is no trouble. I have developed a taste for tofu. I eat tons of fruits, veggies and nuts. I have more energy. Even with my recent shoulder surgery, which put yoga on hold for 3 months, the weight has continued to drop. I figure my weight will level off at the healthiest place for me.

NOTE: I used to be very active on this site but I suffered some trauma last April, which has taken me quite some time to recover from. I am now on the flipside of that and very happy to be back.

My Goals:
Continue with health focused decisions I have made. Drop whatever weight falls off in the process.

My Program:
I have stopped eating most meats (beef, pork, lamb, turkey, chicken, etc.). I have kept fish. I have stopped eating dairy. I am slowly getting back to yoga and pilates now that my shoulder has healed from the surgery. My goal is to get back to going 3-5x/week.

Personal Information:
I'm Kristin. I am from Houston, TX. I am 28 years old.

Other Information:
I'm totally into yoga and pilates right now. Nearly addicted. I love it so much.

    I just wanted to drop a note to say that your story/journey is really inspirational! I too love yoga and am just getting into it myself. Can't wait to get to my next class and feel its wonderful benefits.

    Also, being a veg is such an amazing lifestyle decision. It has also been a year for me and there is no way I could go back.
