I've been on a quest to get healthy for years. Christmas of 2010 as I sat and ate an entire tin of peanut brittle I searched on the computer for a Weight Watcher Meeting. December 26th I was in a meeting. I knew I was out of control. I lost 30 pounds in a little over a year attending meetings. I am a very, very slow loser. In 2011 I decided I needed to get active to get my weight loss going again. I started walking with a friend and we walked 5 miles a day Monday-Thursday and 10 miles on Fridays. Walking was a great way to get some time away and lose a few more pounds. However, I found that I just couldn't maintain that level of time devoted once school started back up. So, after a few months of inconsistent exercise I decided I should start running, so I could still cover the miles, but in less time. After a few months I really started to enjoy running, and it didn't frustrate me as much to see that I wasn't losing. Going to Weight Watchers every week began to frustrate me the most. I started to feel like WW wasn't helping me to understand how to account for activity in my eating. In the Spring of 2012 I quit WW and started training for a Half Marathon. I completed the Half in July and then went on to complete 2 more, but my last half I completed as I was breaking out in shingles. That was 2 years ago and my traininghas been almost nil. In these last 2 years I've also gained over 50 pounds! The Shingles took a lot out of me, but now I am finally at a place where I can get going again. It definitely needs to start with food, though, because it will take some time to build my activity back up.
