I'm ready to take the first step towards my new Lifestyle!


Hello. I joined SparkPeople on Friday August 3, 2112.

I have lot's of weight to lose (over 100 pounds) and am excited about getting started...again. I am hopeful that SparkPeople can help me because it is more of a lifestyle than a diet. I've failed many diets in the past. SparkPeople looks different...I'm eager to learn all about it!

Fitness Minutes: 945

My Goals:
1.Make God first place in my life instead of food.

2. Lose over 100 pounds...and keep it off.

3. Learn how to live in the moment!

My Program:
 Eat 1500 calories or less a day.

Track my food intake daily.

Exercise at least 60 minutes a day for five days a week.


Personal Information:
About five months ago I called a Bariatric Surgery Center and asked to speak with a psychologist to see if he could help me stop my compulsive overeating in order for me to have weight loss surgery. I felt that if I didn't stop my constant overeating the surgery would not really work. Since then I have been seeing the psychologist every week. He diagnosed me with Binge Eating Disorder and worked with me on identifying and controlling emotions that cause me to binge, portion control, feelings about myself, fears...

On Friday, August 3, 2012 he told me we could now move to the weight loss portion of the program. I signed up on SparkPeople that night! Beginning the next day, I began to log my food intake and exercise.

Right now (August 13,2012), I am planning on still working with the Psychologist and being active on SparkPeople. I no longer want to have the surgery because I feel prepared and supported for this lifestyle change that I am beginning!



Other Information:
 Things I love: God, cabins in the woods, country roads, lakes and beaches, old charming cottages, children, Fall, Christmas, my cats Eli and Emelia, Shabby Chic decor, picket fences, Vermont, Maui, meatloaf with green beans and new potatoes and my biggest support, Mom!

    {This is another version of 'Twas The Night Before Christmas' }


    'Twas the night before Jesus came
    and all through the house
    Not a creature was praying,
    Not one in the house.
    Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care
    In hopes that Jesus would not come there.

    The children were dressing to crawl into bed.
    Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.
    And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap
    Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap.

    When out of the East there arose such a clatter.
    I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
    Away to the window I flew like a flash,
    Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!

    When what to my wondering eyes should appear
    But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.
    With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray
    I knew in a moment this must be THE DAY!

    The light of His face made me cover my head
    It was Jesus! returning just like He had said.
    And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
    I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.

    In the Book of Life which He held in His hand
    Was written the name of every saved man.
    He spoke not a word as He searched for my name;
    When He said "it's not here" my head hung in shame.

    The people whose names had been written with love
    He gathered to take to His Father above.
    With those who were ready He rose without a sound.
    While all the rest were left standing around.

    I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
    I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate.
    I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight;
    Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

    In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;
    The coming of Jesus is drawing near.
    There's only one life and when comes the last call
    We'll find that the Bible was true after all!

    Just thinking about you! Hope you are still doing well! I just had a bad week with a cold and then a lot of other family stuff and gained 3 pounds! Yikes! But i'm not giving up... just re-focusing and starting to track my food again and trying to get back and consistently exercise again! Remember we are worth it!
