Welcome to One-derland
Too many sodas, slurpees and poor dietary choices coupled with a chaotic lifestyle that left little time for work outs brought me from a lean 6 ft 185 lb frame to a doughy 256 lbs over the past decade. I owe it to myself and my family to be healthier so I resolved this year to make several healthy changes in my life. Foremost on my list was removing sweetened beveages from my diet. I'm proud to report I haven't had a single soda or slurpee since Jan 14, 2014. In March I adopted a mostly organic diet composed of lean proteins like chicken and fish, many fruits and vegetables, healthy carbs like quinoa and brown rice and far fewer refined carbs. To date I've lost ~60 lbs with daily dietary and exercise tracking on SparklePeople, during just the first half of 2014. On 6/27/14 I officially weighed under 200 lbs for the first time in eight years! A new job requiring weekly travel and associated unhealthy eating has undone most of my progress in 2016. My goal for 2017 is to lose 40 lbs to return to my prior fit frame, re-introduce strength training to my excercise routine and maintain a healthy physique for the longterm.

My Goals:
I would like to lead a healthier lifestyle and lose 80 lbs with SparkPeople(I already shaved 46 from my peak wt. of 236 in Nov 2005 then put it back on over the course of the next two years). I'm trying to have a more positive attitude in general too because my wife and kids deserve that.
My Program:
Working out (both cardio and strength training weekly) and eating sensible portions and making healthier choices daily. I've given up my slurpee and salty chip addiciton in favor of air-popped popcorn and water for my evening snack of choice.
Personal Information:
Shawn from Grand Blanc, MI
Other Information:
My favorite culinary expert is Giada Delaurentis. I met her in person at a book signing in Ann Arbor, MI. Yummy, I like her food too!
