I initially joined SparkPeople in Nov.06 when my first daughter was 8 months old. In just more than a year I lost 50 pounds - which made me 20 pounds lighter the second time I got pregnant than I was the first time!

In January 2009 when baby #2 was three months old I decided it was time to get the baby weight off again. By April 2010 I was 160 pounds - my goal at the time!

UPDATE January 2011:
I went off the tracks a little - ok, a lot - in the Summer & Fall 2010. I now weigh 172 pounds. My short-term goal is to be at 165 in late February for my daughters 5th birthday party (a swimming party, at her insistence!). My longer-term goal is to reach 155 by June.

Fitness Minutes: 12,117

My Goals:
To get to a healthy body mass index. I'm obese and this blows my mind.
To do cardio excercise at least 4 times a week but ideally 6 times (water aerobics, jogs, treadmill, elliptical & Wii Fit on slow days). I've just re-started incorporating more strength training into my routine.
I usually have no problem getting at least 8 cups of water in a day, but struggle staying in my calorie range and to get 7-8 hours sleep a night.


My Program:
I'm (terrible at) recording the foods I eat and how much I exercise I get. I am making better food choices where I didn't before. I am trying to eat smaller portions, or when I want bigger portions to make sure that most of it is vegetables. Currently my biggest food issue is late night snacking.



Personal Information:
I'm from Canada, the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
I just turned 34 and am a mom to 4.5 and 2 year old girls.


Other Information:
I'm an environmental and social justice activist. I strongly believe that everyone can make a positive contribution in the world - you just have to do it! Food wise, my husband and I love cooking and love to experiment with new recipes, especially international cuisine. We try to work with natural, fresh and local ingredients and use organics when possible.
