Introduction Text I am a 50 yo female that needs to lose 90 lbs.( have this down to 45 lbs, yeah halfway there) I live in Northeast Ohio, married for almost 32years, and have 3 daughters and 1 son. My goal was to lose 40 lbs before my hysterectomy in Nov. 2007 (which I acheived). I am 12 months post hyster and I have gained it all back. I am now ready to get serious again. (now over two years and down 45 lbs) I am trying a different approach now. I saw a segment on the news about calorie restriction. I have done some research on it and am willing to give it a try. I am settling with a gradual weight loss per their recommendations. I am not so interested in the longevity aspect of the life style as I am warding off chronic diseases ( I guess the avoidence of these diseases will add years to my life). I still "try" to restrict the calories but also started to follow a low fat plant based diet. I am at a stand still right now but haven't given up. I have been at the same weight for around 6 months, but the important part is I haven't gained.

My short term goal is to get out of the obese catagory. I need to be at a weight of 174 to acheive this. My long term goal is to weigh 140lbs and avoid the diseases of old age.

I I haven't been tracking my nutrients since starting the McDougall program. I try to walk/run/swim for 30 min or more five times a week. I have now added Yoga to my fitness routine.

I am from NE Ohio. I have been married since 1978 and have four children, three daughters and one son. As of july4, 2009, a son-in-law.

I am an avid cross-stitcher. As a RN I would like to set a good example. I have radically changed my diet since reading books by Paul Mcglothin and Meredith Averill, T. Colin Campbell, John McDougall, and Caldwell Esselstyn.
