I joined Spark People in December of 2007 - so I have been here a while.

I struggle with weight issues and have for many years. In September of 2015 I was admitted into a weight loss clinic run by our local hospital. I learned that I am severely insulin resistant and was able to lose 60 lbs over the course of the Optifast program which I attended until March 2016.

Now I need to continue my weight loss through diet and exercise. The Optifast program proved that I can lose weight successfully, so I need to acknowledge that and follow through. Spark people give me the support and tools I need to be successful. Besides which my darling daughter, who is the best diet buddy ever, is also on Sparks so we can keep in touch and spur each other on!

Good morning Shirley: Finally made it back to check out your page! I enjoyed reading your blogs! LOL My bones are not so tiny! I have medium/large bones on my short frame. That is why I don't expect to be a size 2, 4 and probably never a 6 either! When I was young I could wear a size 7 Junior. My body is no longer a young girl's, so I'll be happy to get into a size 10 someday. You have been very supportive of me and I'm happy to see that you are making progress!

    Your friend,

Hello Shirley -- and congratulations on your First Month Anniversary here at SparkPeople! Thanks so much for taking the time to come by one of my blogs ... I love the process and it's a great way to share with myself and others. This community has so many tools and wonderful people ... I just love it!

I also am totally, completely and jealously enamoured of your beautiful home! OMG! Can I be your friend and come visit? LOL J/K (well maybe not ... ). Your photos are wonderful ... but let's see more of you! When I started this particular phase of my journey I went to old photos of myself "before" my weight went up and used that as a motivator. I haven't gotten "back there" yet, but it helps me to remember that my body hasn't always been heavy. Kids used to tease me (and my adoptive father was also weight abusive to me).

I love Beowulf! What a handsome GS he is! At 10 I was bit in the butt (no joke) by a neighbor's GS, which scared me from dogs (especially GS) for years. As a young woman, I became friends with Morgan, a red/black Sheperd that had been imported from Germany. When he really "liked" someone, he would gently take their forearm into his mouth and hold them -- so tender you would hardly notice. The first time he did it to me, it was all I could do to not freak out. We became the best of friends, and his "humans" always knew when I was coming over due to his reaction -- and I was the only person that he ever responded to that way. He is sorely missed -- he passed many years ago -- and was born on St. Patrick's Day (interestingly enough, his human's name was Pat).

I hadn't thought of that, actually. I'll have to find the chaplain's number. Hubby's been trying to break contact with his father for 9 years, and he's only 20. It's ignorable when it's just him trying to get between us, he's been doing that since we started dating. He even cursed at my mother the first time they met with no reason. The problem now is that it could seriously affect (effect?) his job. He's talking to his immediate superiors about it, and he's forwarded all of the emails between he and his father/stepmother and me and FIL/stepmother, so hopefully something can be done on his end too. Since he's not emailing me this time, and he assumes that hubby has the same sort of marriage as he's had (no communication and money issues) we just put the emails together before he sends them.

Anyway, thanks for the comment and the suggestion, I'll try and contact the chaplain on Monday when I go do our taxes on post.
