Did I reach the middle of the palindrome of my life? I think that is what my high weight symbolizes. It symbolizes a culmination of years of events and activities that resulted in bad decisions for my body.

Is it time to return to the beginning? If this palindrome is a bell curve of my weight, then I think so. Not only am I tired of fighting my weight in all the wrong ways, I'm also tired of sacrificing healthy self-care habits for my career.

These pages will record my journey back to the beginning of my weight struggles. The highs and lows, the successes and the failures, and ultimately a return to the healthy balance and perspective I used to enjoy.

My Goals:
Long term: improve my self esteem and body image through improved fitness and weight loss

Medium term: adopt consistent, positive self-care strategies

Short term: blogging, calorie counting, 10000 steps/day, complete daily challenge


My Program:
Stick with it!

If I can make it for two weeks, I can make it for two more, then two more after that.

I have to stop making excuses and waiting for that perfect moment to reach for these goals.

hw = 180 on 1/1/07 - size 16 short
Joined SP = 175 on 2/22/07
goal 1 = 170 by 4/1/07 (achieved 4/15/07)
goal 2 = 160 by 6/1/07
goal 3 = 150 by 8/1/07
goal 4 = 140 by 10/1/07
fgw = 130 by 1/1/08



Personal Information:
I'm 37 and 5'2". As a single person with a career that keeps me very busy, finding time to take care of myself has been a real challenge. It is time to stop using that as an excuse and to start focusing on getting into shape and slimming down.

Tracking the BMI for my height (5'2"):

My current BMI = 31.3 on 3/13/07 (Obese)

Obesity (30 or greater) = 164# or greater

Overweight (25-30) = 136-164#

Normal (18-25) = 104-136#

Underweight (18 or less) = less than 104#
