I struggled with my weight for years. I tried so many of the diets out there. They all seem to work for a short time, but then I get stuck and gave up and gained the weight back...

After two years of CONSTANT VIGILANCE (sound like Mad Eye, don't I?), I have managed to drop over 100 pounds.
While I'm still inherently lazy, I've found a few things that I really enjoy doing. Bicycling, hooping, spinning poi, and I'm even enjoying my running! (Yay for C25K!)

I think that's really the key, isn't it? Constant Vigilance - watching what I eat & keeping active. Now, that's not to say I don't let myself have treats (seriously, look up my flourless chocolate mug cake recipe); you need to have to occasionally let yourself have "bad" things, or you'll just obsess over them!

I follow what I like to call "Paleo Ranchero". (I guess you could call it "Primal" as well.) Veggies, some fruit, meat, nuts, very little grain, and cheese. It's pretty much a low-carb lifestyle, but not crazy low. I try to keep my carb intake between 100-150g a day. Some days are higher some days are lower.
I also have been Intermittant Fasting one to two times a week. Basically, I eat dinner then don't eat again until 1-2pm the next day. Then resume eating as normal.

My highest weight, around April 2010, was 304 pounds. I was unhappy, but didn't realize it. I've gone from a size 26 to a size 10.

Completed Edible Pedal 2012 with a time of 5:15.

I also did my first 5K. It was the Foam Fest, a 5k obstacle course with BUBBLES! A lot of fun. It wasn't timed, and I didn't run, but I think we finished in about 55 minutes.

Finished 2012 5K Foam Fest in 46 minutes! Also, ran/walked the Run Amuck 2012 (2.5 mile obstacle course).

I. Can. Do. This.

Hey there Stacy, welcome to SparkPeople and Fibro Friends! You've joined the best place to get healthy, fit and motivated, and Fibro Friends is an incredibly supportive team as we all live w/ FMS. Fibro does change losing weight & getting fit - but it doesn't stop us unless we let it. Even having a day full of obstacles & not letting it stop us the next day is progress. Make it a goal to make progress every day, even when all you do is 10 minutes of slow stretching in a couple 5 minute sessions. It will make so much difference.

This forum, including the Reading Room, is full of fibro resources. Spark's tools are fantastic, I couldn't do this w/o the trackers. There's so much to learn, articles and slideshows & videos, including Coach Nicole's workout videos. The support is the best part & it's endless!

Feel free to come introduce yourself at the team, we'd love to get to know you.

    Enjoy getting healthy & fit!
