Greetings to 2018

So much has changed for me since this journey changed in 2007.

I wish I could say that I am full of hope, vim and vigor.

The truth is I am almost 47 years old, in worse physical shape than ever in my life. I almost regret the 3 years of health I had 10 years ago (the only non-obese years of my life), because it makes now more painful.

AND I am in better emotional space than ever. In many ways, my success in 2007 was very 'white-knuckled'. I have done a lot of work on shame, and it has paid off.

I am left, on this first day of January, feeling like I don't want to enter my 50s with this level of unhealth (daily, active symptoms of arthritis of the knees, cervical spine stenosis, deconditioning, etc).

Do I feel hope? Not really. Do I feel vulnerable re-entering this space. Hell yes. So very much so.

But just for today, I am going to think that it is worth it and try a bit of a new thing again.

Just for today.

    Hey there!

With a name like SONGBUDDHA I couldn't resist adding you, since I too love music and I find the Teachings of the Buddha, as transmitted by teachers like Pema Chodron and Thich Nhat Hanh to help light the way in this crazy topsy-turvy world!

I was just in St. Louis to celebrate my birthday with dear friends, a couple I knew here in Little Rock who just moved to ST. Louis. Rochelle is an attorney and Sandra is a MSW (like Don), working with abused and traumitized women, as I recall. We went to a ROCKIN' concert at Jazz At The Bistro, since I'm a big jazz love. We saw The Christian McBride Trio. It was all I could have hoped for...and MORE!

Anyway, you likely know the Buddha's Four Noble Truths, beginning with the ubiquity of suffering (i.e., PAIN).

    Blessed be,
    Maha
