Hi! My name is Lisa. I stumbled on Sparkpeople in May 2008. It had been a complete accident when I had been searching for the calorie content in a certain food. Before I knew it, I was hooked.

UPDATE for 2009:
After excessive dieting and exercising in 2008, I am back at square one (and some) in 2009 after the proven fact of "too much of ANYTHING is NOO good!" Therefore, I am ready to start my journey once again, but this time, I am going to try and keep a healthy frame of mind without letting my obsessive compulsive behaviors take over.
It isn't that I couldn't do it without Spark, I just don't want to! I love my Spark friends!

Sparkpeople has really changed my life. It has taught me so many things. It didn’t just teach me about the calorie content of food, it also taught me how to live and maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle. I am not going to lie and say it has been easy; it has been a real roller coaster ride for me. I learned a lot about myself, as well.
In August, I had reached a dream weight of 116 lbs, or so I thought. I have since realized, it was an unrealistic weight to maintain. I have learned that it is not just a numbers game. It is more of an overall balance game. A balance between food, activity levels and most importantly the ever-changing cycles of life.

As you can see by photos, I am NOT a naturally thin person. I have had to work at it my whole life. In 2005 and most of my life prior, I weighed an average of 200 lbs, with my highest weight being 212lbs. I starting Weight Watchers at the age of 10 and yo-yo dieted for 18 years. I had always thought that getting to a certain weight was a destination and never ever made it past losing 30lbs without gaining it all back. Then something clicked.
I had blamed all unhappiness in my life on my weight. I truly let it hold me back from doing things I would have probably loved to do. I decided to take matters in my own hands and change the way I viewed food. I was no longer going to use it as a tool for happiness, but as fuel and search for other things to make me happy. I became more active, started eating "when I was hungry", started running regularly, and found that the results were so much more rewarding than any over-indulgence of food.
