Updated May 2019:

Year 1 - I did great 2017-2018 and lost 60 pounds - my goal for that year!

Year 2 - 2018-2019 I had a net loss of 5 - I was up and down a few pounds throughout the year but ultimately the whole year ended with about a 5 pound loss for a 65 pound total weight loss.

Year 3 - 2019-2010 - I am UP about 13 pounds from my lowest weight last year and about 10 pounds up from my average. It's now May 2019 and it has been a rough few months health-wise and I have gone off the rails since March. But I was struggling before then to stay on my program. It's hard to keep counting calories year in and year out, especially as the weight comes off slower so the "return" is hard to see. Plus, you know, I like to eat well and drink wine.

I'm trying to rededicate myself to the cause. I now have 45-50 pounds to get to goal - it was much, much nicer when it was 30-35 pounds! I'm spending today thinking about strategies to help myself do better and fully commit and hopefully get back to the business of losing weight.

Updated January 2018:
I have been sparking and counting calories for 11 months now and am down 56 pounds. I hope that by my one-year anniversary at the end of February 2018 that I will be able to say I lost 60 pounds in one year.

Although sometimes (okay, often!) I feel that this is going too slowly, averaging 1 pound a week really isn't bad and by just keeping at it I have lost a significant amount of weight. I think it will probably take another year until I get to my goal weight which could be discouraging, but there really isn't any doubt in my mind that I can accomplish this, so I think that's a positive thing! Looking forward to continuing the downward trend in 2018!

February 2017:
I have been a member of SparkPeople since 2007, when I used it to help lose 40 pounds, on top of the 30 pounds I lost prior to joining the site. Then I steadily put all the weight back on.

Now I'm 10 years older and the weight and lack of activity is making me uncomfortable and creaky, and this is not the way I want to be! I have a lot of friends and acquaintances who are in their 50s and in great shape - and I want to be right there beside them feeling good and looking good.

So feel free to stop by and say hello and let's support each other!
