I am a 63 year old, married, retired nurse who loves my 3 cats and loves knitting and scrapbooking.  I have fibromyalgia and arthritis and have used both as an excuse to eat and be lazy.  Finally, I have decided it is time to take my life back and lose approx 60lbs and get in shape.  I would love a buddy to help me stay motivated.  By the way, my husband is a not so willing partner in this life change. 6/23/08:  I just want to share this.  I joined SP for support for my weight loss and found so much more.  When I started I was in such depression due to the loss of our precious grandchild.  I got an email from a very special lady who has been through the loss and grieving of her grandangel and she helped me more than I can say and definitely more than she will ever know. There were many others who gave me their support and love, too.   I am now able to talk about him without getting very emotional.  That is not to say I am not still sad about losing him but I am slowly getting to put him in his special place in my heart.  Now I can focus my attention and efforts on losing weight and changing my eating habits to healthy ones.  THANK YOU SPARKPEOPLE FOR HELPING ME THROUGH ONE OF THE DARKEST TIMES OF MY LIFE!!!!!!
7/15/08: Another goal met in my goals to get my life back was met this last week. I flew up to my mothers to see her and to try to reconcile with my sister. My sister and I have been estranged for almost 20 years and I felt since I lost my grandson that I had to reconcile with her. She sent a note to me after the baby died and I decided after thinking about it that the loss of my grandson was not going to be for nothing. I arranged to go to my mothers when she was there and it was strained at first but slowly became easier and we hugged and told each other we loved eachother and were glad to have the other back. It was very wonderful and I dont think my mother will stop smiling for a long time. It was soooooo special. I know the support I have gotten since I joined SP that helped me have the courage and strength to go through with the trip and not chicken out or let my ego get in the way. THANKS AGAIN SP!!!!!
03/17/2009 2 weeks ago my mother-in-law died after a prolonged illness and my husband and his brother leaned on me and that was fine. I helped them make all the arrangementswe had to go to the cemetery where our grandson is and I stayed at his grave for about an hour while the guys went to the plot where their mom was going to be buried in, right next to their fathers grave. I had not been back to Hayden's grave until then and all of a sudden it hit me and I totally lost it. I did not want to bother the guys so I just walked around and cried my eyes out till they came back. I was so mad at myself for getting so upset but now I realize it was probably the best thing I could have done because now I feel like I have closure. Ed and I went back home to Orlando (2 Hrs away) and I had one day to do a memory book of her life. Thank God for Creative Memories Picfolio because I did it with 1 hour to spare. Then back for the funeral and a celebration of her life afterwards. The day was spent with the greatest group of loving and understanding and totally non judgemental people I have ever met. It truly enriched my life and made me look at things in a totally different light. My husband is doing well and is the most wonderful person and I have to thank his mother for making him who he is.

No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins." ~Bob Moawad
