Hi, I'm a middle age woman with lots of life to live.I want to be my healthiest & happiest in the years to come.Spark People has giving me the inspiration to move to the next exciting phase in my life .With all the supportive tools, recipes, blogs , trackers and you encouraging members on Spark, I shall not fail, I am committed to changing my lifestyle for a healthier future. Thanks for all the encouragement thus far, I have a long journey ahead , I am very excited to go the extra mile with all of you ! Thanks for the inspiring journey, I'm on my way! Well it's Spring of 2017... I fell off the SPARK wagon for a couple years and found around 30 of the 60 lbs. I had lost ! I'm back on the wagon and ready to get rolling...my goal is to lose 40 lbs by the end of summer (mid Sept.), drink 10 or more cups of water , and eat 6 or more fruits and veggies daily....fresh from my garden hopefully.πŸ˜ƒπŸŒ±πŸŒΆπŸƒπŸ…πŸƒπŸ“πŸŒΏπŸ˜„ Hey πŸ‘‹ ......It's Spring of 2018 , and I did lose 40 + pounds this past year. My performance is slower than my expectations. My journey has been a series of ups and downs from losing 2 lbs in a week to gaining 3 lbs in a month , but with every healthy decision I make , brings me closer to my goal. I still have several pounds to lose. However , I'm very proud of what I've accomplished over the last few years and greatful that I have the support of Spark friends and members that have inspired my life in so many ways....lets have a great year Sparkers ! Happy New Year Sparkers2019....We're halfway into our coldest winter in 10 years & I've gotten comphy & cozy. I have reached my goal of being under 200 lbs this past year. However , I've gained a few lbs back over this hibernation season....My goal is to lose 20 more lbs this year by "moving more" and starting "yoga" again. I sure feel more flexible & less stiff when I practice it. Also to walk somewhere new each week. I find that small goals like this add up and become big changes in short periods of time...Till next year folks...Let's do this !...πŸ˜‰

First and foremost is to drink more water and eat at least 5 fruit or veggies a day also to exercise at least 10 min. per day , stay in calorie range that Spark has set for me.

I have been changing my lifestyle by tracking my foods & my nutrient intake, as well as starting some exercising routines. I've noticed in the short time that I've made theese changes I already feel more energized & have started losing lbs weekly, thanks for the support

Im an animal lover , I have 2 dogs & 3 cats and enjoy spoiling them , I love to cook & make new recipes.walking is my go to exercise, I also enjoy yard sales, estate sales , flea mkts. and clearance sales. If I cant get it 1/2 price I don't need it! Love a good bargain. As Spark is such a great asset in my life, and best of all it Free!

    Thanks for the yoga mat, Michele - what a sweet surprise!

    You asked if I'd tried yoga, and up until a year ago I've had said, "No." I was afraid to hurt myself because I'd tried DVDs and that's what happened, afraid to take a class because I thought I'd be on the floor in the same room with fit and skinny women, and afraid yoga would be something I couldn't do well enough to please myself.... But NOW I gave give you a resounding, "YES!"

    I started with a once a week class called Gentle Yoga last summer, and found out that I'd been doing a lot of poses wrong. With the accommodations the instructor suggested for my weight, my age, and my knees, I was able to make good progress. My strength, flexibility and balance have improved significantly. (I'm also calmer and easier on myself.) Now I take a "moderate" class, and have added a Qi Gong class as well.

    I'm still older, overweight, and careful about both knees, but I've gotten so much from yoga that it's something I intend to do for the rest of my life.

    ...so, are you sorry you got me started on the subject? :) My advice is to give it a try - see if you can find a "gentle" class and take it from there. Classes around me are only 10-15 dollars for a 90 minute class, and you learn a LOT. Try it and see what you think. :)
