All things are difficult before they are easy. Never, never quit!

Life slowed down for me as a husband, and father to be. I had gained 30 pounds in 2 years with life just being very busy.

Since January 1st 2007, my weight has been moving in the right direction. with lots of love and support from my wife, I'm getting closer to my goals. I'm on pace to reach my target weight in May, then I'll have to reassess my goals.

Becoming vegetarian has not been nearly as hard as I thought it would. I am still tempted by commercials of burgers and pizza, but forcing myself to stay with the vegetarian lifestyle has been huge in helping me keep calories down. The key is that we didn't jump in and go cold turkey. We slowly started removing meat from our diets and bought some Vegetarian cookbooks. I had to know I would have enough staple recipes that I liked and could fall back on in the new diet. 6 weeks have gone by now and we are both doing great with it.

What a difference a year makes. Last year I reached my goal of running a marathon then promptly fell off of every bit of exercise I had scheduled. I got fat over the winter, and ballooned back to my starting weight (230). It wasn't until March 08, that I finally started to get myself back under control. Now I'm working again to get back to where I had already been last year, and then beyond that to my maintenance goal. I am planning on taking it slow and just continuing to improve.

Do 10 pull-ups.

My Program:
1. Eat moderately healthy food.
2. Cardio exercise 3-5times a week
3. Lift weights 1-2 times a week.

I tend to get most of my cardio from running.

    It's funny how there is no animals on this freecycle. The freecyle in Carbondale has nothing but dogs and cats.

    Hey Steven,
    The Canadian health care system is generally pretty good. The problem is with specialized testing. Unless you are in HUGE trauma, it can take over a year to get an MRI. CT scans usually take 6-8 weeks, and I am at 9.5. Truth be told though, the fault with my pain now lies solely with me. I feel a bit better, then buck the system. Running two 17.5k runs back-to-back while injured is not exactly the method of getting back to it. My RMT loaned me an inversion table that gave me HUGE relief, enough that I thought I was good to go. Guess not.

    OH yeah, we also have the option of paying for the MRI - thus my begging with my extended health care plan...if we do that, it can happen within hours or days.

    Anyhow, thanks for being concerned...I hope that we can virtually train together for another event!
