Hi...I am a 43 year old Mom to two amazing but challenging boys. My fitness journey began when I lost both my Brother and my Dad to massive heart attacks back in 2008 within 9 months of each other. I was devastated by the unexpected loses, I was over weight with two little boys. My brother left two little girls and I agonized over them not growing up with their Daddy and what if that happened to me and I wasn't around for my boys. I expected one day to lose my parents but not my brother. I thought he would be there in my life when they were gone and found comfort in that. I had no energy to start working out I felt very alone I was up and down through the grieving process and I knew I wanted to be present for my kids. I decided I could at least start logging my food and watching my portions so that is how I began and that is how I found Sparkpeople. Eventually I started walking and even running a little and the weight was coming off people were noticing I was feeling stronger but I was getting bored. I wanted a challenge so I bought a Beachbody program...Insanity...call me crazy but I committed to doing it and completed it...YAY ME!!! After Insanity I did Brazil Butt Lift but I felt like after all the craziness of Insanity Brazil Butt Lift felt like I was standing still so I ordered Chalene Extreme and fell in love with this program. I loved doing the weights and Chalene was so motivating. A couple of months ago Chalene came out with a new program called PiYO so I am currently doing that. I wasn't sure how I would like it it is a mix between Yoga (not a fan) and Pilates (LOVE!) but quicker movement it is amazing I always feel compelted energized after the workout and one of my favorite things is i don't have to go down and put on my workout shoes. Ha Ha! I am by far not complete in my journey and I have my own set backs. This past long winter had me struggling to stay on top of my nutrition but I will keep moving forward until I get there. I would love to connect with others working on the same goals or having similar struggles.

Welcome to Hopeful Hearts. I'm Pat, one of the leaders on the team and I made you a friend. I love this team and I hope you explore it and get involved and love it as much as I do. The other leaders are super and I love them all. It is the most helpful team as far as I am concerned.

I wish you SparklingSuccess in reaching all your dreams and goals, health, wealth, and happiness. May God richly bless you many times over.
