I am Barb. 39 year old Housewife in Tampa, Florida. I am 5'8".

I am here to help stay motivated to lose weight and get in shape.

I welcome friend requests =)

I began my weight loss and fitness journey on June 1, 2011 at 255 lbs. I discovered SparkPeople at the end of July 2011. As of December 31, 2011 I am down to 229 lbs for a loss of 26 lbs. In the year of 2012 I went from 229 lbs down to 201 lbs, which is 28 lbs. down for a total loss of 54 lbs. Also in 2012, in November, I had a regular check up with my doctor to go over lab results which were all within healthy, normal ranges for the 1st time in at least 10 years. No more high blood sugar, no more out of whack cholesterol and no more high blood pressure!

In 2013 I had so many wonderful accomplishments. I even dropped down into ONEderland. My husband and I took several vacations and all was going well. Then on the last night of our Alaskan cruise June 1, 2013, I fell down some steps while dancing and fractured my previously injured knee. I had to have a 2nd surgery to repair the damage and have been informed by the surgeon that it cannot be repaired any longer as there is no more cartilage to work with and the bones are too worn down and damaged. I will require a full knee replacement unless God miraculously heals me. In the meantime I have regained most of the weight I lost up to this point. As of Jaunary 1, 2013 I was back up to 235 lbs.

In 2014-2015... Sadly I really let myself go again after injuring my knee. As of January 1, 2016 I was weighing back in at 246.2. I let that injury really set me back, physically and emotionally. I let myself wallow in self pity and depression. In August of 2015 I also had to deal with "empty nest" as my son joined the US Air Force. I'm very proud of him, but missing him is rough. I got used to having him home with me every day since I homeschooled him. One of my brothers made an offer I couldn't refuse... He has offered me, our mother and our other brother a challenge, each of us that loses 16% of their body weight during 2016 will get to go on a cruise in 2017 which he will pay for. He will also pay for spouses and children to go. So that's my motivation to get myself back in shape this year!

In 2016 I would like to...

1) Lose 39 lbs so I get to go on a free family cruise
2) Be able to fit back into size 16 jeans
3) Keep up with my food tracking daily.
4) Exercise daily, even if it's only a brief amount. No excuses!
5) Read through my Message Pause/Rewind Daily Bible
6) Continue exceeding water drinking goals daily
7) Try a new healthy dinner recipe once a month
8) Complete my doggy cross stitch project
9) Read 52 or more books from my current favorite authors as well as classics and new authors

Thank you Frances! Your comments mean a lot to me =) I am so determined to get myself into better shape so I have more energy and desire to do things. I used to be so athletic when I was younger and active and so I know what it's like and I really miss it.

I am working with the concept of baby steps to better my life in general. Just little steps in different aspects of my life that I wish to improve on and let them snowball at their own pace with small pushes when I start to feel comfy =)

I'm working on it for fitness, healthy eating, spiritual health and house keeping.

I already got positive feedback and encouragement from my family who have seen me posting on Facebook about my step goals and stuff and they are really cheering me on. It felt wonderful =)

Already gave you a short welcome on your CHRISTIAN LIVING post

And was SO IMPRESSED with what you have accomplished so far.

Just take it slow. For the weight, pick just 1, 2 or 3 items
to focus on until they become a habit. When I first started
Spark, I joined a dozen teams, set 20 daily goals and
    DIDN'T DO ANY OF THEM!

After several start-overs, finally go it. Picked 6 glasses of water
and 5 minutes of exercise daily. After a couple of weeks, upped.
Again, we are re-learning a lifetime of bad habits. Slow is ok.

I had been on Spark on and off for a few years, losing and regaining
the same 18 lbs over and over. Then last year I started posting and blogging.
THAT has made all the difference for me. It is great that you started so soon.
You will get LOTS of NEEDED, extra support from it. PLEASE keep doing it.
Even if you choose to not be public, it can help you vent and keep track of
what works for you and what doesn't.

    BLESSINGS!
