I'm 53, weigh 140 lbs and I'm 5'7". I've been a heavy person since I can remember. I was a 'chubby' child, heavy teen and a heavier adult. The most I have ever weighed was 245 lbs and the least is where I am now. I'd like to say I've lost all of the weight because I am disciplined, and a conscious eater. The truth is i did go on a diabetic diet in 1994 and I've managed to keep the pounds off, although I really don't know how. I guess I did manage to control what I eat even though I have my binges.

I really want to try to stay where I am now, with the added incentive of health. I am not in the greatest physical condition and exercise is very difficult due to some serious medical conditions.


UPDATE:

In the past 14 years I have had 15 leg bypasses, 1 quadruple coronary bypass, I've lost a leg, had stents inserted in my heart arteries last year. This year I became very anemic and lost 4 to 5 pints of blood. Immediately following I had a heart attack. That was in February and I knew I had to make changes in my lifestyle, diet and exercise. The latter is the hardest for me because I'm very sedentary because of my leg and conditions.

I now weigh 126 since joining SP I've lost 14 lbs (on a maintenace diet no less). So I'm increasing my caloric intake a little.

The one thing I've always had going for me is my optimistic outlook on life. No use complaining as they say....

Anyway, I'm happy to be here and I hope I can better my health through good eating and minimal exercises.
