I'm a 61 year old Mother of 7, Gramma of 6, and making time for myself! I am a NASM certified Personal Trainer, with a certification in Corrective Exercise Specialization and Senior Fitness I had a very bad year in 2010, with numerous setbacks, including 2 surgeries, and losing my mom. I gained 50 lbs. After of year of "healing", I'm ready to get back on the loss weight band wagon, and get back down to where I need to be! I love strength training! I have to remember, that these 50 lbs did not show up on this body over night. It's not going to come off that way, either! --2014/15--Let myself go over the holidays. STUPID! Gained back the 10 lbs that I lost! Thankfully, our new gym opened! Been back there consistently! Beginning to feel better! Passed my NASM Personal Training Accreditation in April 2015! Training my own clients, as well as working with MY Trainer, Nick the Notorious! LOL! aka Trick Fit! The new levels he has taken me to, is astounding! LOVE the new routines he throws at me!! --2016--New direction-New Trainer! I have changed my training direction! I am now training with a Personal Trainer who is a Power Lifter! I have registered for the USAPL Federation, and also have registered for my FIRST EVER Power Lifting competition! I will be competing on the platform on July 30th! I'm both excited and nervous! I am the oldest woman in my division! This is REAL!! I have increased all of my lifts, Bench Press, Dead lift, and Squats over the past 8 weeks, and I still haven't reached my limit! I'm excited to see how far that I can push my body! 2017! The Year of ME! I am competitively Power Lifting! I compete in the Masters 50-59 age group. I now hold 5 USAPL NC state records, and now hold a Bronze and most recently, Gold in my age and weight class! You're never to old to pick up the iron, and start lifting! Strengthen your bones, muscles, ligaments, and release endorphin's! There's no time like NOW, to get moving! 2018! The Year of Big Goals! I am continuing my Power Lifting Journey! But now, I've brought along my training partner, and another friend, to join me in competing! I've changed my weight class, with the hope of setting more NC state records! My partner, competed in his first meet, and broke the NC State M2a, 120+K deadlift record, at 574#! He's 51! Age is just a number! Don't let anyone tell you anything different! Live your life! Not your age! Big things to come in the rest of 2018! I'm much more confident, and assertive now that I am physically stronger! In addition to Personal Training, I now manage a Snap Fitness club, near my home! There's no time like TODAY! Get up! Get moving! You CAN do it! 2020!!! The Year of all Years!!! I have had a very rocky year! I lost a job, was out of work for 2 months; got a job managing a gym; THEN---Covid-19 hit! I was out of work again! But this time, our local grocery store had a hiring spree! I took a job that I THOUGHT was going to be a breeze! Well, Let's just day that I wasn't told the truth! It turned out to be MUCH more physical and demanding that I was first told! I kept that job for 3 months, before I sadly admitted that position was not good for a 60 year old female! The good part of that job was that I lost 10 lbs while working there! When I left the grocery store, I took on delivering groceries! It was fun, and I set my own hours!!! The huge drawback was that I gained back my 10 lbs! Frustrated and feeling defeated, I decided to make a serious commitment to myself! After a shoulder injury last March, I've decided to switch from power lifting to body building! It bruised my ego, knowing that I'll never squat 300+ lbs, bench 135, or deadlift 275+! But, I'm tired of looking like a power lifter! Power lifting demands that you feed your body! And for many women, it means packing on pounds! I got tired of looking that way! So, last month, I quietly decided to hit cardio a lot harder, and with more dedication! I'm on week 4 of early morning cardio! I've bumped it up to 35 minutes, I still hadn't seen a change in my body or scale! So, yesterday, I took on something I've heard a lot about--Intermittent Fasting! I NEVER thought I'd be able to do it! But, after a FULL 24 hours of 8 eating 12 fasting, I'm down 2+ lbs! I'm drinking a TON of water! (or so it feels that way!) But MAYBE, just MAYBE I found something that will work for me!!! So, MAYBE 2020 will end on a positive note!! I may never compete in Body Building, but at 60+ years, I want to look pretty DARN good!!! So, here's to positive results and attitudes! Heck! At 60+...the sky's the limit! Live your Life! Not your Age! *Stronger Every Day!*
