Hi - My sister had me join SparkPeople because I've struggled with my weight my whole life.

I fell off the SparkPeople wagon for a while because of a couple of horrific years, but I'm back and trying the hCG diet on the advice of a medical weight loss clinic. By doing acupuncture, I was actually able to get off of most of my medicines for thyroid and heart rhythm. Now it's just time to get this metabolism reset so that I can go back to the size I had gotten down into in college. :-)

Personal Information:
My family is from Georgia. I just moved back to GA from CA. My sister and her family live in Tennessee.

I was a heavy child. When I graduated highschool, I was around 250 pounds. When in College, I lost 75 pounds with Richard Simmon's Deal-a-Meal. Then, sometime in 1995, I started to gain weight rapidly (15 pounds the first month). My dr suggested I join Jenny Craig because he didn't think I was tracking my calories right. I gained 45 pounds on Jenny Craig, so I quit (loved that food, though!). I have kept my weight steady from 260-270 for the past 10 years, but couldn't lose below 260.

Other Information:
I'm an AVID reader. I love books! I love history books, historical romance novels, and just about anything that has a good story. I'm not much of a TV person, but when I do watch TV, it's things more in line with New Detectives, FBI Files, Forensic Files, Dr G Medical Examiner, and things of this nature. (But if I flip the channel and Bugs Bunny or Futurama are on, I'll watch those anytime!)

    Before I post a challenge, we have to get some members back. At least that would be nice!!! Now that fall is right around the corner, and that is a change from the heated summer, why not change with the flow of the seasons!! We probably need to make it to little goals and it must be do-able, fit in our busy schedules, and make us think positive for our next goal. Ususally we focus on weightloss. Many of us are stuck, or haven't gone anywhere. There HAS to be a reason for this seesawing, and what I have come up with that it starts with the mind. With that said, I think we should start a "mind" change to get ready. Most of us, including myself, just seem to be negative in someway, some more than others, and this is a BIG problem for a healthy life style. We have to feel POSITIVE in order for us to be healthy. So, here's our challenge:

    1. Meditate at least once per day. (See "JUST POST HERE" if you are unsure about meditation.
    2. Exercise everday, even if it's for a few minutes because we all have idle time throughout the day.
    3. Whatever you do post in JUST POST HERE!
    4. We will build from here after 2 weeks...let's get POSITIVE!

    So, is EVERYONE being GOOD?!! I suppose everyone got my last tip...Does anyone want to do a challenge every week? Let's make a list of "weak" areas. Did you go over your quizes? I think some weekly challenges could "inspire" us!

    How about weight loss WARS? Ever here of this? Lot's of fun!! Have to stay on your toes for this one!! You challenge members!! For instance: I challenge Susie this weekend to eat NO JUNKFOOD. Susie responds: I except your challenge Jo, if you do 30 minutes of exercise 3 times a day.

    WOW!! This could be REALLY FUN and we could add more points for the SUCEESS!! If we hit each other's weak areas, then we are ESPECIALLY helping each other!! We can add 50 points for each of our sucessful weekly challenges. Don't forget to add up your weekly tasks too!! So, let's go to JUST post HERE and start WEIGHT loss WARS

    Daily Tip Idea: (don't forget to review others!)

    We did a questionaire in JUST post HERE, some members may have missed it. We had GREAT responses and a self "reflection" on some of our areas of problems. It was a GREAT eye opener!!

    I see we all are in the yes category for a jumpstart program.

    From personal experience I have experienced great results with only one program. I also know Vee, was on this program as well. Vee and I have decided to do the "healthy heart program" for one week, starting Monday. We will be tracking this in our mini journals. This plan is also known as the cabbage soup diet and I once did this at work with everyone for a week. We all made our own version of the veggie soup and while staying accountable for each other, we sampled each other's soups. Funny that we all made it a different way!! And we all lost a different amount of weight! I lost 10 pounds, (I kept it off too!) and one of my associates lost 15 pounds!! I know Vee has a lot of experience with this program. I can speak for myself, I wasn't hungry and neither were my co-workers! And it was a lot of fun doing this with others and seeing the results. I found the program by googling it on the net. It was a GREAT "pick me up" when all else failed and it wasn't an expensive program either, so it fit into my budget!! I am excited on starting it again.

    So, I thought we would touch on "question number one" and go on from there. Email me, if you have any questions! We will discuss other "weaknesses" as the holidays approach!! Check out my "long" post in JUST post HERE, maybe you can share some ideas too!! emoticon
