Hi, my name is Lisa, I have had a weight problem all my life. I was the girl that weighed more than the majority of adults when I was in elementary school. I walked into the middle school (6th grade) weighing in at 180 and was up over 200 by the end of that school year. The only reason I remember that is because 6th grade is when everyone tunes into the mean and nasty part of their brain and finds it completely enjoyable to pick on those that are unlike themselves. And from that point on all I got were snide comments and constantly put down by everyone around me including my family. By the time I was about 13/14 i topped off at in a range between 240-250 and stayed there until i was around 23/24 then I started gaining weight again when I was hanging out with a former friend every night eating cheese pepparoni and crackers and play cards during her pregnancy I ballooned up to 280 lbs. I went on a cruise in January 2007 and the day I came back I was just so through with everything I sat in my room and cried for hours I hated myself and my life. So I looked in the mirror and said your ass is on a diet as of right now. So in the last 3 weeks of January 2007 I lost 10 lbs... But then I get sick of dieting so i went back to eating better but not good enough to continue losing weight. It wasnt until June when I walked or attempted to walk with my coworkers in the Corporate Challenge run. It was a HOT day and having been a couch potato for the last 5 years or so I nearly killed myself. I almost could not finish. I was completely mortified that at the age of 25 I could not walk 3 miles i think it was?? Yet my coworkers that were 10, 20 & 30 years older than me had no problem. That just killed me. The next day I joined the Buffalo Athletic Center and went at it hard working myelf up from feeling like passing out after 3 minutes on the elliptical machine to going over an hour a day and then some. I got to the point of working out 2.5 hours a day nearly every single day. I did fantastic from June-October and lost another 30 pounds getting down to 240. Then I took a few days off, went to Florida and came back and that was pretty much the end of my constant gym routine. from that point on it was all touch and go and in 2 years time I gained back 15 lbs and stayed around 250-255 until March 2010. That is when I got my butt on sparkpeople.com and picked up with my journey again. I got back to the gym and started to lose a little and the around end of april ended up with a stomach ulcer from changing my diet and eating salsa and hot sauce on everything i ate from eggs to chicken and salad. So for about a months time i was in severe abdominal pain and was terrified to eat and exercise due to the pain. I did however lose weight during this time for fear of eating to induce pain. But once it healed i started eating again and gained back what i lost. So it was back to touch and go for acouple months. At the end of June i got back on the horse and began building my endurance up with cardio. I was able to get down to 235 and then hit a terrible plateau for 4 terrible months! No matter what I did i could not get past 230. I spent hours and hours and hours doing cardio and starting to mix in weight training and NOTHING worked. I was getting furious. In Oct I decided to check out a different gym and I fell in love with the place. I had been at a womans gym for years and they have weight machines but nothing like the equipment i laid eyes on at the new gym and the trainers actually looked like they worked out hard and worked out seriously. My sister goes to this gym so I met her trainer and knew after joining them for one traning session that this was it, im converted and I want this trainer. So even though I really can't afford the training I got it anyways, once a week for 3 months. I have been been so happy in my life. It took a while but I broke my plateau and started dropping weight and building muscle like no ones business. I no longer spend hours and hours on cardio, i've switched to lfiting and I love it. My trainer is a true inspiration she is training for body building figure competitions and looks incredible. I hope to some day look half as good as she does! So here i am on January 1, 2011 at 219 lbs and this time next year i want to be at 139 lbs. That will bring me to my original goal of losing half my body weight. This is the year and I will achieve my goals no matter what. Weight loss comes first and foremost in my life now. Nothing can stop me this time! .. Or so I thought... May 2013 Update .. Apparently dating stopped me and my goals. I had never had the confidence to date but towards summer of 2011 I was down to 185 and felt like I was starting to look good and attractive and actually getting good attention for the first time in my life so I threw myself into the pond to see if I could find a good catch. Well I thought I had but I realized that I slowed down my gym routine and picked up more forks at restaurants and slowly my 95 lbs of weight loss halted and I went in reverse. I began to gain weight, not fast, at first. Once I got into a relationship with my now ex, the weight started coming on quicker. I completely broke my routine after a few months stopped going to the gym completely except for an occasional day with my friend because I began to feel guilty that I was not around when he wanted me to be (which was every moment that I wasn't working). I no longer ate healthy and began eating junk food that I never used to eat. Started snacking at night which I had never done before.. etc... So between the relationship then the break up, it all lead to emotional eating. and I ended up gaining back 30 of my 95 lbs lost in the course of 14 months :-( I have been trying to get back on track ever since I ended my relationship in August but I just can't seem to get there and on top of that I got sick and my whole immune system is out of whack. I have spent the last 4 of 7 months sick which really isn't helping matters at all and I gained another 15 lbs from that. So I gained back 45 lbs in total back. So as I sit here May 15, 2013 I need to get back. Get back to the person I was not eve 2 years ago crush that person and take it even further. I want to reach my goals and keep only positive supportive people in my life. I don't need anyone getting in my way. March 2016 Started the year back at 247, I'm at 237 as of 3/4/16 and getting back on track. I def let myself go and didn't care about my appearance but I'm ready to start working toward the 185 I had been at in 2011. Why is it so easy to gain but so hard to loss and keep it off!!!

Thanks for the update. I am so proud of your hard work and so thrilled to hear about your success!
I don't make it to the gym as often as I should, but after moving again last year, I'm back at my original location rather than the Colvin club.
Take care and keep in touch.
