I am in this journey with my twin sister. We need to get healthier to take care of our children. I am also looking forward to reaching out to others in the sp community and not only gain support but lend it. God bless all of you.

12/17/12 I have lost about 30 lbs. so far and have about 25 or so to go. I have been struggling a bit lately but am looking forward to a new year and an opportunity to continue losing weight and getting healthier as the weight goes down and my energy goes up...trying to maintain a positive attitude and continue my attitude of gratitude....

8/1/2011 Yay! I finally lost a pound. I am sooo excited because the numbers on the scale didn't show everything I am learning from sp. Patience paid off. On my way to a healthier me! WooHoo!!

8/7/2011 WooHoo! My one month Sparkversary!!! Yay I am down two pounds and gained about 50 in knowledge. Thanks to Sparkpeople I am aware of my errors and am able to make many better decisions in my life. Not only with food but in all aspects. Thank you Sparkpeople. ; )

10/28/11 WooHoo!! My first ten pounds off. It took me a while but I am so proud of myself. I am finally believing that I can really succeed at sparkpeople. Thank you all for your support throughout my journey...I looove sp!

My Goals:
My goals are to eat healthier , lose weight, and learn how to enjoy the life God gave me. I want to learn to handle stress better and spread more joy. My ultimate long term goal is to overcome all of my medical conditions and obstacles and become an aerobics instructor. Good luck to all of you at Spark people!!

My Program:
I started doing the elliptical machine following my doctor's orders. I can only work out about three times a week until further notice from doc. I will work my way up to zumba, just dance and other aerobic exercises I really enjoy. No strength training in my near future but that's okay..

Personal Information:
I am marrried to my high school sweetheart. I have an 18 year old son with Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy and is a blessing in our lives. I have a twin sister and am blessed by her big family. I have multiple medical conditions as a result of brain surgery I had in march of 2009 and am still trying to fully recover physically and spiritually. I believe this is the perfect opportunity to do that. Reclaim my life and happiness. : )

Other Information:
I am learning about meditation and it really helps me deal with all of the stresses in my day to day life. I have also learned to be grateful for all that I have in my life. The good times and the not so great...I am blessed beyond words...

You are in the right place for healthy living. I joined in Jan of 2008 but I am very computer challenged & did not learn how to make good use of the site until October of last year. Since then I have lost between 29 & 32 pounds, depending on the day! I would like to lose a total of 40 so I still have a little more to lose before I get into maintenance. I have met some inspirational friends here & I will be forever grateful for this site & all the support from my friends & fellow Sparkers. Let this site help you & you will not be sorry. emoticon emoticon

    emoticon Greetings and emoticon

Congrats on taking the next step to reaching a healthier you by getting active with SparkPeople - it's a great community, wonderful resources and fantastic support. You're off to a great start already, just by posting here, introducing yourself and sharing your story!

How fun to do this with your twin sister!! Wow, I think I'm super-jealous, haha! I watched The Biggest Loser last season where two sisters [not twins, tho] were the two finalists and it was very inspiring to watch them do it together. Anyway, good luck to BOTH of you - doing it together should make it extra-special for both of you.

Please check out the SparkTeams - I think you will find a lot of others 'just like you' including many with the same challenges, circumstances and goals. You can choose SparkTeams by age group, lifestyle or interests, geographic location or several other ways.

I'd like to invite you to join the Virtual Walk/Run/Cycle Thru the US @ exercise.lbl.gov SparkTeam - it's a really fun way to track your walking while you travel 'virtually' across America from Virginia to Oregon. Go to the SparkTeam page at www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_i
    ndividual.asp?gid=19805 for more information.

Some of the other teams I like and think you might like include the Official 10-minute Daily Exercise Streak Challenge, Starting Over Weekly Mini-Challenge Team, 10k Steps A Day and Motivation & Positive Attitude Plan - but there are so many to choose from, you can have a great time looking for the ones that seem to fit you best! In fact, I suggest joining more than one group, post your intro there and write blogs as often as you can - you will find tons of friends and support that way, I promise!!

In my experience, SparkPeople is like a emoticon in some ways - it's lots of fun and easy to make friends because we're all in this together. I like the way a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE is emphasized instead of a 'quick fix wonder diet' so it's good for people wanting to lose weight, maintain a previous loss, get healthier, improve fitness and many other goals including gaining weight or saving money - it's about waaaaaay more than 'just' losing weight so you have definitely come to the right place!

If you ever need any help using features of the site, there are tutorial videos under the HELP section that can show you how to use the features of the site. You can also find them on the START page and several other places on the site.

Be sure to read and 'study' The Spark book because it outlines the overall program and is compatible with most types of eating plans. It's available in printed version, as an audiobook or as an ebook for Kindle - you can download the free Kindle reader for your computer or read it on a smartphone so you don't have to actually own a Kindle device to take advantage of this offer - I have it on my Blackberry and can read bits of it whenever I'm waiting in a line or feel like I need a 'reminder' of what I'm trying to do so check it out!!!
    emoticon
If you haven't already discovered the SparkDiet linked at the bottom of the START page, check it out - the program is simple but extremely effective. There is a TON of information on this site - so much it might even seem overwhelming but fortunately we don't have to 'digest' everything at once! The FastBreak program is a good way to start.
    emoticon
Another nice thing about SparkPeople is that we have permission to be human - we don't have to change everything at once or be in a hurry to reach our goals. Take a few baby steps and then a few more and before you know it, you'll have completed a long journey - I hope you enjoy this community as much as I have - it teaches us how to make positive lifetime changes because that's the only thing that will work over time!
