I've struggled with my weight majority of my life. When I was younger, my family treated me differently than my cousins and my brother. I was always told if I had 1 more cookie I'd grow up to be as big as a house. About the time I turned 10, my parents bought me a horse and I rode every single day for hours on end. I played basketball, I bowled, and I played softball throughout my high school career. I even dropped to 120lbs my first year in college because I was so consumed with getting adjusted to college life that I sometimes forgot to eat. After a few years, I quit worrying about what not to eat and hit 155lbs. In March 2008, I was in a car accident that should've ended my life. I was t-boned trying to cross and intersection....and walked away from the accident, but not without an injury. The door came back and hit me in the left shoulder, I was unable to move my arm properly for weeks....and I'm left-handed. When I went to the doctor he tried to put in my physical therapy, knowing that wouldn't do much for me from previous experience, I took to the gym. I started working and 6 weeks later I went back to the doctor and he was impressed with how much strength I had gained in that amount of time in that shoulder. After doing all that I decided to start working out on a regular took me a year to drop to 147lbs....and then in May 2009, I started lifting weights 3x/week, biking 20 miles 2x/week and running 2x/week...I went from 147lbs to 134lbs in a month and a half! I kept the weight off until September 2010 when I started buckling down on school. I graduated May 2011 and moved to Knoxville, TN to pursue pharmacy school. In 8 months, I decided to go into nursing, which set me back on my exercise efforts. I went to school 26 hours a week, studied for over 36 hours a week and worked once a month. I didn't have much time for anything. When I started nursing in November 2014, I worked dayshift and dropped back down to the 140-150 range. In June 2015, I started nightshift and did nights for 3 years. It raised my TSH and Triglycerides to abnormal levels within the first year. I fought my weight for the 3 years I was nights especially since I had to sleep more due to going against the natural circadian rhythm. In January 2018, I changed hospitals, started in the ICU and moved back to dayshift. It's been an adjustment period, but I'm getting into the swing of things 6 months later. I started seeing a new doctor, who treated my hypothyroidism and put me on a different depression medication that encouraged weight loss. I've lost 10 pounds since June 1, 2018. I want to get back to what I looked like in 2009!!!
