Introduction Text Hi everyone! This is an unabashed advertisement for Spark People. This is good sensible advice for getting to a healthy weight and maintaining it. If you're new to the site, be sure to follow the program through the stages and make this a lifestyle change. The quote at the bottom of this intro tells the story about how to be successful - take little steps and you'll be fine. I tell folks, I'm not on a diet, I'm living a healthy lifestyle. This isn't about giving anything up, except bad choices. My goal is to drop a few more pounds but mostly to continue to live in a healthy way. That means making good choices most of the time and letting myself off the hook when I occasionally make a bad choice.

Basically this is what I do - I'm tracking my food, measuring portions and eating 4 fruits and 4 vegetables a day. I'm also doing cardio (walk/jog & elliptical) and strength sessions regularly. I particpate in various teams and try to encourage others.

I enjoy playing brass music with my friends, and playing piano for my own amusement. Off and on I'm working on a quilt. I also have started running again after more than 5 years away from it. It's not that I absolutely love running, but it's great exercise you can do anywhere.

Live in North Carolina. Enjoy reading mysteries and history, most American. Current books on the bedside table include a John Adams biography, a lightweight history of Ancient Rome and several murder mysteries.
