Back to Spark after the birth of my beautiful daughter on October 22, 2011!

My first trimester was a roller coaster... After having a miscarriage and D&C last summer, I was devastated when I was told at 6w4d that I was miscarrying again and given a script for a D&C the next morning. I was having no bleeding or cramping but no yolk sac was visible on ultrasound, and my HcG numbers were very high (38,000, 40,000 a day later) but not going up quickly enough. I opted to avoid the D&C and instead went home to wait for natural miscarriage. I went back to my normal life, running (even intervals), drinking moderate amounts of coffee, eating my yolks runny (gasp!)... you name it.
Luckily I continued to take my prenatals and avoided anything that is DEFINITELY known to harm a fetus, because when I went back to see what was going on at 10w3d, what should we see on the ultrasound but a perfectly-sized, kicking fetus with a powerful heartbeat!!
I am incredibly grateful for this miracle and am trying to enjoy the rest of my pregnancy as much as possible. In a weird way, waiting for miscarriage helped me learn how to relax as a pregnant woman without worrying that every little thing would harm my baby! I'm back to taking most pregnancy precautions, but I'm pretty confident in the strength of this little guy or girl. :) Please pray for the continued health of this tough little baby!

Life is good!
Spark has given me motivation to exercise, understanding of how to eat well, and a supportive community of friends. It also helped me lose 10 pounds. I'm a big fan. :)
My husband has lost more than 50 pounds on Spark... I'm a big fan of him, too. :)
***************************
Why am I on Spark... (I wrote this after being on Spark for a few months)
Not because I feel I have to drastically change my body. I love my body and love what I can do with it... I DO like fitting into my clothes a more easily after being on Spark for a month, and sure I want to be a little slimmer and more toned, but I don't think I was "fat" before or that I HAVE to do this.
Instead, I'm on Spark because I want to live deliberately. :) I want to KNOW what I'm putting into my body and I want to get exercise regularly. I want to be healthy! After doing Spark for a month I actually have developed more reasons for loving this... I really love how energetic I feel, how full (but not stuffed) I feel, how I make deliberate choices about my food to make sure I get enough protein or even enough fat. I also love the fact that I am actually losing a pound or so each week... it is amazing to feel like what I do yields direct results, that I can make choices and then see their impact. I also kinda like the puzzle that figuring out what I eat each day has become... I like finding that perfect snack that gives me the right balance of foods. :)
I've never been overweight, but I HAVE seen a slow creep up in my weight over the past few years (mostly because I had no idea how huge the portions I ate were) so I love knowing that Spark will help me DECIDE my weight for the next 50 years or so rather than let my age decide.
Oh, and Spark is hands-down the best way to procrastinate after Farmville. :)
My biggest motivator: my wonderful husband BOISTYJONES (who is also on Spark and is doing an amazing job of losing weight himself).

To regain my ab strength and improve my arm strength
To run a 22:40 5K
To eat more healthy food
To get down to 125-127 consistently
My Program:
When I was losing the weight, I tracked religiously, which was really helpful. Now I eat when I'm hungry, run because I like a challenge, and do yoga because it feels great. I've always loved to cook, and Spark has helped me cook lighter meals. I'm always figuring out new tricks. (Just discovered that phyllo dough makes GREAT low-fat pie crust...)
