Hi again! I just wanted to let you know I was just checking out your website you told me about to see your book reading list, and I couldn't help but surf through the rest of the site. I have to say, you are one of the most interesting people I've met in a while :-) You have a very poetic way of expressing your ideas. I haven't read through it all (there's a lot there), but I WILL be going back to read some more. I can tell I like you just on the sheer range of musical tastes you have listed in your records section. I LOVE LOVE LOVE jazz - particularly the Miles Davis/John Coltrane variety. Nice.

Hope you're having a great day!

Hey thanks for the comments on my page. Something that I started taking to potlucks that people really seem to enjoy is something called Texas Caviar. Its not quite as fat laden as a lot of pot luck dishes seem to be - its got a few different kinds of beans, tomatoes, peppers, jalapenos, etc, with zesty italian dressing. You could lighten it up even further by using low fat (but NOT fat free) dressing. If you'd like the recipe let me know, although I won't be offended if you don't because not everyone likes beans. I usually pair it with some baked tortilla chips and people are always asking for the recipe. Its easy too which is a plus!

Or, a lot of times I will just cut up a bunch of different kinds of fruit and bring a basic fruit salad. Just throw all the fruit into a bowl and that's it! No heavy cream or anything. Right now, with all the yummy fresh produce in season, that would be great too. Strawberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, watermelon, and green grapes is my favorite combo. I NEVER bring home leftovers with that either.

    Good luck and happy potlucking!!

Ooh - I'll have to check out the books you mention. I would really like to read Shutter Island. When I first saw the promo for the movie, I thought no way would I like it, but then when I saw it wasn't a horror movie, per se, but more of a psychological movie, I was interested. Still haven't seen the movie yet (we just got it in the mail from netflix), but I think I'll read the book too, since you recommended it. Do you have all 52 books picked out that you are going to read? I have a few others to recommend if you're interested. I can't remember author names off the top of my head, so I'll check before I give you the recommendations.

Yes, I have read Night by Elie Wiesel too. And I agree - VERY heart wrenching. Any parts where it talks about children tears me to pieces, probably more so now than ever since I am a mom. I haven't finished the Pawnbroker yet, but I'll keep you posted.

As far as weight loss goes, how are you doing? I am taking it one day at a time, but so many things seem to threated to derail me! My family and I went on a trip to a waterpark Fri and Sat. and today I have been suddenly immersed in a family crisis. Rather suddenly, my brother's marriage is in crisis and he and his two kids are actually staying with us right now. Not sure how long, maybe a few days? So, my time at the computer and at sp may be a little erratic the next few days. Send me good wishes to hopefully avoid weight loss pitfalls while things are so chaotic around here!

Hope you have a great day and a great week! Thanks for being my spark friend!

I wasn't on the computer much yesterday, so I just saw your status update about packing a healthy dinner. Way to go!!!! I know for me, by the time I get to dinner on a GOOD day, sometimes I struggle to make the healthy choices for eating. I am very proud of you!!!!

I also saw on your personal info that you like to read. I do too - have you read anything good lately? What kinds of books are your favorites? I am in a book discussion group at my library and this summer the theme is books relating in some way to the Holocaust. How about that for some light summer reading? lol The first book we are reading is The Pawnbroker. I think it'll be good, but I'm trying to mentally prepare myself. Whew.

    Have a great day!!!
