In NY State . Walked along the Mowhawk River trail for one hour. Gorgeous !Laundry, a bit of big box shopping, getting lost somewhere in NJ and an old fashioned diner. Are those gobblers ????Another walk along Lake Ontario's shoreline trail. What a miserable head cold. The scene and autumn leaves were spectacular but I am s drippy mess. It was a miserable cold and landed in my sinuses, but today I feel well enough to go to the gym for a modified workout and lots if stretching. Yesterday I walked and the foliage is just past peak.The walk today was under trees like this. 1 & 1/2 miles in perfect weather.Six days drive across America. No tracking, no exercise, Spectacular !I posted a blog with my sketch of the same tree using my scanner app, but it's sideways but now I think I know how to fix it. Still learning. That trail was tough...we termed around after 44 minutes, most of it uphill and it was hot, no shade. 30 minutes back, steep and lots of sharp turns. Thompson trail 2.5 miles easy, hills.Bad nights sleep, but finally found our friends from Alberta and hiked on an easy upgrade for nearly two hours. Good company. Super service at GM dealer in Palm Sorings for oil change plus. Walked 32 minutes to grocery for salad bar and veggie Thai rolls. Busy days with friends and now getting ready for the ride home. Laundry room is next to the gym, and then a bit of sun in the pool area. Joshua tree was wonderful.Drove through the Arizona desert. Beautiful vistas. Maybe 10 minute walk at a rest stop to see the Saguaro Cactus... And so tired Morning stretch as the sun rises in Texas just east of El Paso. Doing everything to stay on track while spending hours in the car. Crazy weather.Foggy and damp but still warm so no complaints. These are the grey days.Slept like a baby ! Ready to walk along the shoreline of Puako. In the Hawaiian sun. Glorious day in Waikoloa. Yesterday's scene up north at the head of a moderate trail... Down is easy, up isn't.I can double step our stairs and do lunges st the same time. I think I invented a new lower body ex and save my knee all at once. It's better today.These are the knee biting stairs, and I am up and down all day ! So I use them as modified side stepping combo crazy lunges. So, the washer and dryer are kaput & arriving next week...but I have sunsets! And hand wash !At the beach in Mauna Lani at a shallow inlet ...resting my knee. That plus ex with bands before we left . Finally, the first real walk to the Hawaiian cemetery and down to the ocean. Lots of goats walking all over the ancient rock tombs. Kona Mountain GrownWalmart in Kona. These were not for sale but their owner didn't want to leave them in the car. All spoken for. Yesterday was so perfect. AM floor work routine then a brand new beach park with a nice walk each way. Did it twice & then swimming. From sea to shining sea.. Super windy and dangerous ocean conditions but I did my abs, butts, yoga on a towel. The painting I see every day when I do my GG routine... Now 20 minutes of floor work, yoga, strength and stretch. I jogged for the first time since my knee felt ok again. Just 7 minutes out of a 30 minute beach walk. Barefoot is best for me. Wonderful day!Ok. Sunny with Tornado warnings. This forecast us for the birds!Yesterday along the shoreline at Hualalai deep sand, high surf , hopping from lava rocks to tidal pools looking for treasures. We have a friend, we call him Red for obvious reasons, but his female counterpart is just as lovely and no less vocal. Right there at our front door . Yes, Red, I did 4 miles. Afternoon at a special cove completely protected from the sea. Walked plenty carrying my chair and bag plus learned a bit of hula. Oh boy. Meet the step dog, not much personality but cute.Walked a bit for 1/2 hour in the gorgeous sunlight...And thanks to a Spark friend, I stopped by a tea shop and got some wonderful stuff . At Humber Bay. Shortish walk with husband catching some November sun. More walking soon.Traffic is mission impossible so no ravine but shoreline again. Barefoot Bubble Lady was out. Fun for all. Plus broken snow fence.How about this spot for breakfast ? We shared a sandwich . At the crossroads of nowhere and lost . Blog will follow. First desert hike with gradual elevation and the knee seems fine. Three miles. Cool and sunny so perfect for hiking. Moderate climb of just under 4 miles.Spent the day looking for a particular spa but got caught up in the annual Santa Claus parade. ''Tis the season !Busy with friends, walking at Bear Creek yesterday. Today walking solo at a better pace- over an hour.Beach boardwalk was busy today, lots of dogs and their humans having fun. The paths were clear, and not too windy.Walking at Humber Bay. Super damp but got a brisk 30 minutes. Easy to speed up in the cold. Then we saw this bird.I can almost see the church from our balcony but it was no fun driving out there. Going to be wet all week , but the trees, hedges and lawns were so brilliantly green it didn't matter . My community centre will be demolished soon and we will loose our cafe , our garden , our fountains - our green space. Everything changes. Still me, but 2 years later.Last nights Canadian sunset had me thinking over how I've changed over the last two years. Classes are out, leading fitness- out, so I've developed a new approach ... walk whenever , gym four times a week, cardio and stretch not negotiable, weights- twice or 3 sessions weekly.
Light years away from 15 direct hours instruction at several levels...not an easy transition but happy now with my new approach.I have a lot to be thankful for ...a beautiful summer day and this guy.

fitness at work .Say good morning to functional fitness at work at the building next door. Walking to mid town , 1 1/4 miles each way with a coffee break in the middle. The roads are ripped up because of a transit project.Walking at Humber Bay...perfect weather. My favourite garden by the lake.It's "the guys" party this evening . About 75 men of all ages somehow connected to our gym have a BBQ...he's thinking of how much shrimp he needs to bring.Absolutely the very best watermelon I ever have tasted...grown in Texas and sold up here in Toronto . My go to snack . My fridge is split between my husband's high cal effort to regain , and mine to loose a few.Walking instead of the gym today because my car is blocked in ...it happens but look what I have on my halfway point...With no specific destination, we drive out of TO gridlock and stumbled on this little town trying to preserve its historic past.Walking at The Beach 40 minutes... Found these yesterday... very young and fresh grown locally plus local blueberries.Today its major league ball. I'm lukewarm about it dince we list our Expos , but off we went . They rallied and won but list us in the seventh. Decent food is available but i ate before we left and guzzled water all afternoon. Exhausted though and anxious to get back to my active days., We walked a bit after to get to the subway. Sitting makes me feel awful.#brunch
At Cora... had to get my sunglasses repaired, so ate at this fabulous Quebecois place that is now in Ontario... iI'll get to the gym in two hours - fuelled . They give all calorie counts . I tracked this already.After all the errands getting ready for Family Day Weekend , I set out for a walk. Within 10 minutes - huge drops - the dark dark sky just opened up...i did about one mile and arrived home soaked to the skin. It actually felt good.Got drenched today and cut my walk short...My shoes were squishy ...everything soaking wet. Actually it was fun because it was so warm. Then a great sun set.Walk to bank of Credit River with friendsSunday at the Farmers Market , seemed to be all organic and within 100k. We got red shallots, garlic, cucumbers, and white salad turnips that seem like radishes. Lots of families, dogs, and music.Just a sample of the kind of Diet Lit I refer to in my blog of the same name. These were on thr shelf in our lower lobby at our mailboxes . People put things out there in case others in the building can use them. Books and mags usually.If you want someone to bring home dinner for you...send him to this Middle Eastern " to go" place that will broil your chicken or fish , leave your salad dressing free, and toss in fresh whole wheat pita......so fresh and delicious.Visit to family at their cottage on Lake Simcoe. The highway was packed all the way , but finally green fields. They have a large garden. This is part of it,More of that gardenWe walked today down at the Lakeshore. Both of us a little slow. Two birds on a branchAt Humber Bay.We weren't fast but we walked 5.2 k at our favourite lakeside ponds. Lots of ducks, birds, one great blue heron, one turtle.Walking 40 minutes each way to my health food store. Brunch out today. Bee- leaguered by bees on an outdoor patio . One fell into our cream jug...abd I swatted it - cream everywhere. Well, I still had my skim. Expensive and skimpy but my latte was stellar and we saw the air show and the snowbirds fly past.This is the shop where i dropped off a pair if character dance shoes that are at least 25 years old. The shoemaker promised he can restore them. His shop is tiny - a little and counter and all this leather.Walk at Humber Bay.I have been so tired lately. A 45 minute drive took two hours...and we were told all the way to LA...so we left the mob and crossed the Mohave and took the old Utah trail and the adobe road.My trees may give way to desert landscaping. I hope they spare these in the effort to save water.This old is just plain awful. Not up to anything but lazing around in the desert sun. Not sunbathing, defrosting. It’s a Canadian thing. This Cold, although this” old “ has something to do with it. And here is my tree - spared so far.My tree, no idea what kind it is. The resort is changing all the plants for local desert species to save water. Lots of other changes too. I like many of them. New man in charge and his staff are happier than ever.Walk at an oasis at the San Andreas Fault...to the pond and back a 2 mile loop. Walking in sand is fun. The view from our little patio where I have my tea and read the morning paper. We are off to the street fair today. I always buy raisins. Not for us today ....just under a mile each way enjoying the scene.Finally, after battling the most peculiar cold ever, I am feeling well enough to hit the gym for an abbreviated workout. Tomorrow we will do a modest hike. Yesterday’s was only a tourist meander near Joshua Tree - watching my son scale a small rocky hill.This is supposed to be 1/2 a salad with grilled salmon. Really ?I ate less than half .Oh my goodness... this hot dry air has claimed another victim. Now my son is sick. They have not said anything on tv about the air quality. That looks like smoke to me, we are not that far away from the wildfires. Not walking today.That’s how i feel - all dried up. My son has his version of “the cold” & my poor husband is surrounded. Lunch on my little patio.Not Santa...It’s a gingerbread house in a Jewish Deli. And why not ?Home in 3 hrs and 57 minutes ! Cold but not impossible. Palm Springs Airport... OK...I am not screaming about the readout on my scale after over one month of vacation. Less than a two pound gain but I was over my ideal when we left. I am on it and going to get healthy groceries. Even Vader is asking if he myst go out in this brutal cold. I can’t remember weather this severe. I am out today but will stay indoors tomorrow. Opportunity to clear up 2017 paperwork.Stunning moonrise as I left the gym but clouds obscured the 3:30 am view. Pictures don’t do it justice. Home, packing, trying to get my steps in.Travel. Planes , automobiles, shuttle busses, and after 2 nights in SoCal to defrost, and a decent 5 hour hop to Hawaii, we are in Hawaii. Wild storms- it’s winter here. Sunset number one. One minute sun, one minute rain...walking instead of swimming. Crazy sky.Walking today in deep sand. One way in sneakers, one wave got me ... harder barefoot. About an hour. This turtle was faster than me today.In the condo and somewhat settled in. Unstable air over our county...pouring rain now. Over the week I’ve been doing pushups, band ex upper body, and running up and down our stairs , but no recorded steps unless I have my cell, even then it misses lots . Now a walk to pick up veggie roll sushi.Don’t park under a coconut palm. Not my car, but the neighbor’s...glass everywhere. Otherwise a pretty good day to walk. Twice around for me today. 33 minutes , 1.5 miles.Beach walk and wading in tidal pools in ideal weather, and of course my morning push ups, body weight exercise. Whatever I can fit in. A bag of four giant papaya for $2 and decent prices for vegetables. It’s a long drive for us but so much fun.Well, we haven’t had any blooms as yet but this guy makes up for it. Hope he gets the mosquitoes that hang out in this hedge. Back to oatmeal for me , and the extra Omega 3.Another special day i Hawaii in the town of Captain Cook, they grow wonderful produce, and coffee of course. All on an old lava flow.Somehow I missed a day of tracking though I do remember what I ate. We had torrential rains, so no walk. I doubt I’ll get out today ...but I did do a lot of cleaning up after arriving home at dawn today. Painters made a giant mess - dust everywhere had to be addressed. I cleaned rather than unpack. Only one wall needed plaster repairs but plenty dusty. I’ll call it an hour of housework.Barely visible.., hundreds of Canada Geese heading northeast...along Lake Ontario. They ste back in full force. Leisurely walk along the newly improved boardwalk.Air quality in southern Ontario is dreadful , yesterday and today. We walked at Edwards Gardens and returned home to continue my cleanup and get rid if stuff we don ‘t use.On the beach today for our traditional walk to the breakwater in Well’s Me. Our first sunny day since arriving. This was York Long Sands yesterday. Cooler today at the shore but perfect for walking - tide is way out.Left the shore and drove state roads rather than highways. Construction slowed us down, awful awful food, twice ate less than half & tossed the doggy bag. Not worth the calories bye bye Maine. . We did two walks today. Great bike and walking trail over 5k . We did about half before turning back.After our workout , my son and I noticed the sky darken suddenly, and we gulped down our lattes and bolted to my car. The rain was brutal, it got darker, then we were pelted by hail. Visibility was awful, and by the time we got home and dried off...this was what we saw.This green thing, oops drink, is looking back at the drinker.Very peaceful walk in Earl Bayles Park. About an hour.Attended Yoga today. Gentle but effective - I’m loose as a goose, and gym buddy gave me a bag of tomatoes , basil, parsley, and a cucumber with the words, Mangia Con Salute...eat with health !Walk, about 4 miles in about 90 minutes . After trudging through two airports and a bumpy flight through Santa Ana winds, we are in the desert. My knee is singing a sad little song so hiking postponed for a couple of days. So there !My walking path.We have been staying at this west island ( Montreal ) hotel for years....near the airport... and I think , hope, the access road will be done by our next visit.
