Our God is an Awesome God (this is not for the weak in heart)

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

I am going to comment on something that I just witnessed. It is of a very serious nature. It is highly emotional and definitely controversial. It is about a tragic and sad event that happened here in Ohio last year.

It was all over the news last year about a young pregnant woman who had disappeared in June. It was later revealed that the father of the unborn child had murdered her.

The only thing that I want to comment on is her mother. The sentencing phase of the trial was just shown on tv. This is when the family of the victim can speak directly to the accused. The mother was the last person in the court room to speak to him. I was in complete awe of what I heard her say and was blessed and it touched me deeply to hear her words.

She began by saying how much she missed her daughter. She then told of the day when she asked God, "where is my daughter?" God responded to her by telling her "she is with me." She then went on to tell how she served an awesome God and a God of forgiveness. She told him that only through His strength was she able to forgive him for what he had done. She told him that she hoped that one day he would come to know her God and that one day his little son would also be able to forgive him. She then addressed the judge and asked him to consider the possibility of the accused to be released someday so that he could have a relationship with his son.

I could not believe my ears. I have never, ever heard of such a selfless act of forgiveness. The mother in all of her pain and agony, was able to set those things aside and minister to this person who took her daughter and granddaughter from her. She does serve an awesome God. I am so glad that I serve Him as well!

I saw that on TV also and it is an awesome testimony of the nature of God living in a human. It was so refreshing to see that broadcast nationally when there is so much revenge and hatred.

I have experienced this happen personally with a Brother and Sister in my own church. Their son was in some trouble owning some drug dealers money and was murdered. No one has been caught for this crime. This young mans parents were in such peace at the funeral. His father went around with a smile on his face thanking everyone who came. It was such a testimony of the power of God in his children. I have seen such power many times. Thank you for being a light to this dying age and a testimony to many around you. Thank God we have someone to turn to in our own time of need. God Bless you!

I saw that on TV as well, and thought how awesome that was. It would be a hard thing to do, and you would HAVE to go through God to do it. We should all take not of that. Thanks for sharing.

It has warmed my heart and testifies to me of the love of God
and how he forgives and how he takes care of us even through
something that is so heart breaking. God deserves all praise.

I too have heard about this case, but I hadn't heard about the comments from the mother. How amazing. It brings me to tears to think of the courage, strength and faith it took for her to say those words. I could not imagine what she has gone through. And to be able to forgive so soon. Praise God!

I am in Ohio also and know what case you are talking about...I agree God is awesome to be able to comfort her that way and let her forgive him through the pain she is going through... I still think I would have a hard time doing that...
