Biking everywhere over the summer/ in the ultimate inspiration.

Saturday, May 03, 2008

This is the first summer I will not be living with my mom. Which is on one hand sad because I will miss her and my brother, but on the other hand, when I live at home I gain a lot of weight. I'm also excited because it's my first summer to be independent.

Any who, I have been thinking about this and I have decided that I want to bike everywhere during the summer. It has been a goal I've been serious about but haven't really looked around for a bike so much. That is my first step, to get a bike. The good thing is, a lot of people here move away for the summer and leave their bike.

My goal and plan is to bike everywhere. I only plan to not ride my bike to visit my parents (40 minute drive away and 50 minute drive) or to visit my sister who lives in the city (over an hour drive away)

Not only will the be a great way to experience nature but also a tremendous way to lose weight and tone muscle.

Last night I went to relay for life. I myself walked for about 11 or 12 miles. However, there was a guy there who for over four hours straight he ran, and then we lit Luminarias and had a silent walk in their who have lost the fight with cancer and after that he was back on the track running. Throughout the night he ran a marathon (26 miles) only stopping for the lighting of the luminarias. He wanted to run 105 laps in honor of his father who died two years ago. The thing is while he was passing us a girl asked him how many laps he was on, and without a beat without a pant he said 74. Which meant, he ran 18 miles non-stop and was barely even breaking a sweat. He is such a huge source of inspiration for me.
