Checking in

Thursday, May 29, 2008

After my boyfriend and I broke up, I decided that it would be best for me to move back to Pennsylvania (which is where all of my family is) but I needed to stick around until my semester was over.

During that time, they discovered advanced thyroid cancer in my grandmother, and after flying down to see her a couple times she finally passed away on Mother's Day. She went peacefully in her home surrounded by family and because she didn't want a funeral we had a wonderful celebration of her life this past Saturday for all of the family and friends.

With all of the chaos of my ended relationship and my grandmother's situation, I managed to finish the semester with B's and C's (which is horrible for me, but it was the best I could do under the circumstances). I will be transferring to a state university in PA starting in the fall.

I'm all settled in down here in good old PA and it's even more gorgeous than I remember. The pounds are still coming off. I don't have a gym down here, but I'm out in the rural area about an hour west of Philadelphia, so I have been hiking and doing a lot of yard work. I also plan on buying a bike for the hilly back roads. Also, being a single girl now has certainly give me that extra motivation to look amazing!

Hope you're all doing well.

Congratulations on your current weight loss. But at the same time, my condolences and prayers for your with the loss of your grandmother. My grandmother died in 1991. I am also a recovering alcoholic. I was supposed to have celebrated 1 year of continuous sobriety the weekend that my grandmother died. By any means, I didn't feel like celebrating. Many years later, I drank again to change my sobriety I think unconsciously. Now I have 11 1/2 years of sobriety. But anyway to be so young you are definitely an Spark Inspiration. emoticon
