The dreaded phone call

Tuesday, June 03, 2008

I finally got the call I've been waiting on for over a week now. The nurse from the doctor's office casually calls to let me know my A1C test results. They should read under 6.0 but mine came back 8.5. I had a feeling but was optimistic that no news was good news. Between that and high bad cholesterol readings emoticon I'm just so overwhelmed!

I hate going on medications to regulate 'stuff'. I was always that healthy chick. In the last couple of years I've had to go on thyroid and blood pressure meds. I admit, I do physically feel better now that it's straightened out. I did change my diet somewhat and over a year's time, dropped about 20 lbs without really trying. Simple changes.

Tomorrow I go in for diabetic education. I've dropped about 6 lbs over the last 3 weeks with the 1500 calorie diet plan my dr gave me to go by. I'm determined to get this under control. I don't want to go on Metformin or whatever (can't remember what she told me now) for the cholesterol.

OK...finished with my tantrum so on with gettin back to healthy!! emoticon

Angie, I know this is overwhelming, but you will be healthy again. I have been on the other end of the spectrum, always being overweight, high cholesterol, blood pressure on the line of being high, and this year I got a great letter back telling me there was blood in my urine. Okay, now you have my attention, doc! Just remember that we are an entire community geared towards getting healthy. We are here to help you through the bad days and celebrate the good ones! Tracy
