I bought a scale! Changing my starting weight, too

I bought myself a scale - I'm so happy about it! I really like it and it was only $10. I had in previous years, given up on scales, as they became objects to help me obsess and get upset about. But this time, I feel like it is really helping to keep me motivated.
I hope I don't get too obsessive or mad at the scale! LOL
Well, I am a little mad at the scale right now, actually. And this is what I'm doing about it. When I started back here at Sparkpeople a few weeks ago, I hadn't weighed myself since last summer - so I just took a wild guess as to what my weight would be.
Last summer I was hovering between 212 and 215. So I put 212 in as my start weight, trying to be hopeful, full well knowing that I've gained over this last year. My husband and I both feel that I have.
And here it is a few weeks into it, and I've given up over 1,000 calories a day in sugar (Sprite and sugar in my coffee) and the scale supposedly hasn't budged.
Well - FORGET THAT!
I need a little scale movement to spur me along, you know.
I'm sitting right around 212 right now. So I'm going to put my start weigh at 217. Who knows - I may have even been higher than that - but, I have no way to know.
I figure five pounds is a good place to make a compromise between 'Hey! I know I've lost *some*!' and 'We must not tell lies about our weight or our weight loss, dear.'
Hahaha! I've been working really hard the last few weeks, really focusing on this whole program of getting healthy and I figure five pounds is the least I can give myself.
So I'm gonna.
If I can find the durn thing. Some parts of this website are just so not intuitive.
