My First Day of Work & RAIN!

Okay, so after being home for 3 years I'm stressing out a little about the job. I know I shouldn't, but that's what I get for weaning myself off of my anxiety medication LOL! I guess it was either no anxiety or thinness! Vanity can be a hard pill to swallow (get it, now it's the vanity pill I take)! Well, the point of this blog was to tell everyone that it is raining on my first day! This would be fine if I didn't have to ride my bike and I didn't get frizzy hair in the rain.

But I am going to suck it up, have fun, and ride through puddles! emoticon emoticonI am really excited about getting out of this apt. and actually spending time with real people!

Hope everyone has a great day. Keep your fingers crossed that it stops raining at 12:30-12:45 and then again at 4-4:15. Other than that it can pour all day. I love the rain.

    So, back to work! It is like setting up a row of dominoes because it affects every part of your life. I am a type A personality and when I first worked I always did my best, worked overtime and weekends, and had high high expectations. After 3 years at home I was quite shocked when I could not do the same quality job at work any more. In fact I went through a lot of anxiety because I no longer felt like a great Mom either. But my mother-in-law who I adore (that's a whole other story because she used to hate me) sat me down and said "you are a very talented person and you have a lot of gifts. Your generation taught you that women can do everything and you are a perfect example of that. Everything you try you succeed at. But the problem with your generation is you try to do EVERYTHING well and what I see is a lot of burned out work out of the home mothers. What you want to teach your children is moderation, pacing yourself, and choosing one thing to do very well and everything else you do well enough. Accept that there is a time and place for you to focus on each ability. Sometimes when you choose one area, like going back to work, then you have to lower your expectations in the other areas. Don't try to do it all perfectly." So for me that meant hiring a house cleaner and leaving work on time, and making a pact with my husband that either we would do work on a Saturday or after dinner weekdays but never both. I really hope today went well for you. Be nice to yourself. Don't get too upset if it all doesn't go perfectly. Enjoy the rain!
