Grant me the Serenity

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

It's so nice to have hubby back, but I seemed to get off track and have not been eating properly (what a suprise). Today has been and is going to be much better. Had breakfast & lunch & dinner is prepped! YIPPEE! It's great to be back on track!

Yesterday we went as a family to Dorney Park. It was a beautiful day, 75-80 degrees, sunny, 30% chance of rain (although I didn't see any). We got in the gate, went on a few rides, Molly fell, again she hit her wrist. She was upset until I told her we were leaving and going to get it looked at, she stopped the tears (almost instantaniously) not wanting to leave. We let her ride a few more rides, a short while later, we noticed it was swollen, turning black & blue, and she couldn't use it. We went to first aid, and then off to the Emergicenter. Almost 6 hours later the doctor confirmed it is broken. By the time we returned to Dorney Park, we missed 1/2 our day but we still had a good time for a little while, keeping her on age appropriate rides but called it a night early to say the least. I feel bad for the little lady. She has the next 4 weeks to be very careful, and wear a splint/brace thing. She had a follow up today, and all seems well, she is keeping it on and has a positive attitude.

Kids are amazing. When my husband was little, he fell out of a tree and broke something. He didn't complain about it for hours because he wasn't supposed to be across the street when he was.

My cousin, Jamie, fell out of a tree when he was little and seemed to have injured his leg. So, his parents took him to the ER, and it checked out fine. Later that night, he complained that his arm hurt, so they took him back to the doctor. He had broken it. So, you never know.

Hope your little one gets better quickly.

You have everything under control, sorry to hear about your little gal and the broken wrist. Unexpected things slow us down sometimes. They also give us new hope and direction. God bless.

I can't believe she stopped crying. I've never had anything broken before but I think it would hurt. She must have really wanted to stay. Sorry to hear that it's broke.

I'm so proud of you for getting back on track!

Oh my goodness. And I remember you telling her that if it was broken the first time, she couldn't go swimming. I guess when you said she was accident prone, you really meant it. I'm the same way so I'm trying to be more aware of that. I can't believe she fell on the same wrist again. Wow! Give the little lady a hug for me!
