Managing Training and Work

Ok, I go back to work this week. Well, the students don't start until August 19, but I have a week of work coming up. So, now I have to balance training and work. When I trained for Flying Pig, I was already working, so had to incorporate training into work. Now, I have to do the opposite, incorporate work into training. And, the end result is.... less sleep for me.

Because of the time, I have to stop going to the evening Muscle Pump class at the Y. I will be doing all of my strength training in the mornings before work - that's my normal schol year schedule. I would love to keep going to Muscle Pump, but I have to keep the family on some sort of schedule.

My school year begins toward the end of training. All of my 20 milers are done during the first month of school.

On a different note, I had an awesome run today - an 8 miler at under 10 minute mile pace (around 9:52) which is great. What a difference 15 degrees makes. On Wednesday, I did an 8 miler at 11 minute mile pace, and it was 75 degrees and 80% humidity. This morning, I did it at 9:52 pace in 60 degrees and 50% humidity. It felt great - my feet didn't hurt, I wasn't tired and I was, in general, a badass!!! But, of course that is my opinion of my self when I run great. I'm just glad I could hold pace for 8 miles.

Will do measurements and post again later in the week.

    You are doing SO AWESOME! You are FAST, I totally admire you. I wish I could get faster times too but sometimes I am such a baby about the weather and then I let it be an excuse for why I ran so slow. Keep up the great work and enjoy the new school year!

    This is awesome news about your running. You are doing so well. Keep up the good work. As for returning to work, I'm dreading it myself. My fitness has become such a major part of my life and I want to be able to make sure I can fit it in. lol!

    awesome running! i understand about going back to school. ours started last week, and i've been having insomnia on top of it all. i guess it's just nerves; hopefully, it'll go away soon. good luck with working your training back into your school year schedule!
