The monster month is here...

Sunday, September 07, 2008

The hardest month in marathon training. I have 170 miles on the training agenda this month. I know I'll be ready for this race - I will have done 4 twenty mile runs by the time I taper. I'm thinking about doing 22 next week. The trail I'm doing my next 20 on is a 7.8 mile loop, and my goal is to make it around 3 times.

Last week, when I did my 20, I didn't eat enough - my sugar was so low at the end that I could feel it, and I stopped to get a Mt. Dew on my way home because I knew I wouldn't make it home if I didn't. I'll bring more shot blox and gatorade next week.

As far as how down I was feeling last week, I'm feeling a little better - I have been trying to focus on my food and what I actually eat. I am not the best at the nutrition tracker when I get busy, so I haven't been as diligent as I should be. I'm also going to talk to my doctor about hypothyroidism, because I have a lot of the symptoms, and one of the main ones is an inability to lose weight/or a gain in weight. We'll see if that can help.

Although I am looking forward to my race, I'm also looking forward to the day when I can get up and decide what type of exercise I can do, instead of just running - I would like to get back into doing my Firm DVD's, and maybe only run 3 times a week for a while (after I go to my doctor for the foot thing). Two marathons in one year is definitely a lot of training. When the year's over, I will have run over 1200 miles!

Even still, I am already planning on running the Pig again next May - it is my hometown race, and a lot of fun.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Just hang in! I'm sorry to hear that your heal is still bothering you!
I totally get the self-doubt issues- especially if you are not feeling well.
It sounds to me that you are determined, though and you'll make it! One step at a time-LOL-literally!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I was glad to hear from you!
