Life is Good

Friday, September 19, 2008

I decided to go out this morning for a long walk since this was my non-running day! What a gorgeous morning! Only 48 degrees but the sun was warming things up nicely! I had my ipod all set and turned in on as I usually listen to some tunes! I got about 20 minutes into it and the ipod died~forgot to charge it up! But as I stuck it in my pocket I realized I could listen ,really listen to the noises around me this morning! I live in a very rural area with rolling hills surrounding our farm! Fall is starting to show with the golds and browns dotting the tress and fields and the giant cornstalks are stiff in the breeze awaiting for harvest. I heard a flock of geese overhead in their v formation planning their flight. Only one truck passed me and of course I knew I would get a wave from the driver~ everyone waves to everyone around here! As I headed down the other side of the hill I heard a strange noise, a clinking sort of sound? I turned to my left and out from a tree lined field were 4 big work horses being driven by the local amish boy about 15 years old! So here I am walking side by side with 4 work horses! It was such a strange moment here we are in this busy world of ours thinking we need all of our "necessity's" to even take a walk and these people are so content/happy with the simple life they have! So I guess with my ipod in my pocket I realized how fortunate we are but we have to stop sometimes and be reminded that sometimes the simple things are ok! Sure I'll still listen to my ipod on my runs but it was nice today to just listen! Yes Life is Good!

(when i trained for the san diego marathon with team in training, i learned to run without my mp3 player because they don't allow it. at first i had doubts i would be able to run so far without music but it wasn't a big deal after all. and i realized how nice it is to just listen to everything sometimes. ::smiles:: i know exactly what you mean.)

How true your comments are. We all take so much for granted. We all need to step back and look at what we have to be grateful for. We emphasize on the negative way to much. Your blog was a breath of fresh air to read. Congrats on meeting your goal of the 5k, good luck to you on your weight loss journey.
