Extra Credit Assignment

For my BL Turquoise team challenge I am supposed to write about a walk for "extra credit". I thought I wouldn't have anything to say, but sometimes a lot goes on when you walk. My husband and I had religion class tonight and it was a very pleasant evening so we decided to walk. We live in a suburban neighborhood but a lady who has lived here a very long time has 5 chickens that she claims she had before there were rules about keeping "livestock". Two chickens are the limit to count them as pets. As we walked past her house, she was putting the chickens to bed in their little house. We stopped to watch them file in one by one. I never really thought about chickens sleeping two houses down the street. When we rounded the next corner there were a couple bats swooping down, I don't like bats but I have to admit they've done a pretty good job keeping the mosquitoes down. A little farther down the street we could see through the window of a house that just renovated and built a new family room. They put in a big screen TV but it's really high up, almost at the top of the ceiling--I guess they like to look up while they watch--I'd get a stiff neck. When we were halfway to the church a car came speeding down the street, going way too fast. It was a little scary since it was dark and there are no sidewalks. It made me think of all the times I drive a little bit fast--wonder how many people I scared. When we got to the church the religion teacher was waiting outside. He asked if we walked but the way he asked I wondered if he was worried we had no other way to get to church; I guess it's not expected that someone walk in the dark unless they have to. The walk home after class went really quickly since we were talking about the people and the class, which we absolutely wouldn't have done if we drove. And if I hadn't had to write this (I love extra credit) I wouldn't have noticed.
