I feel like I'm living in some kind of surreal world. After all the years of pain that I've gone through, I can't believe I've finally had a hysterectomy. I don't think the full impact of what has happened to me will hit for a while, right now I'm too busy just making it through each day.
Here's the story for those of you not familiar with what I've been going through: I've had very painful periods ever since I started my period at age 13. I always thought it was normal to have pain. Apparently not! Anyways, the last 12 years I have also been dealing with extreme fatigue just before my period. The doctors couldn't figure anything out and thought it was just PMS. So they put me on antidepessants for a while. Then the last couple years I started to get really bad ovary pain each month. I finally went to the doctor and he suggested that maybe we should consider a hysterectomy. I was so relieved.
So on Tuesday, Sept. 30 I had the surgery.
Interestingly enough - the doctor came after the surgery to talk to me and said that my uterus was quite enlarged (about the size of someone who is 6 weeks pregnant!) and they found endometriosis. Now I am so glad they did the surgery because none of the tests they did previously found it.
Anyways, here I am now, a little sore, but doing surprisingly well.

Endometruisis, no wonder you were in so much pain. Glad to hear that you went through surgery well and are now focused on recovery. Take it easy, take good care and I hope you recover quick.
