Autumn- my favorite time of year!

And so its autumn , I love it so much! The blue blue sky against the orange orange leaves. School clothes, football, hockey, no more things from the garden that I have to can, freeze ordry far into the night after Ive worked all day.Going to Letchworth State park to look at the leaves ,hike across the trestle and buy apples on the way home. Picking out a pumpkin at my brothers, a trip to Genesee Country Village to see how everyone used to live-the smell of the food and the woodsmoke in the air. And of course Halloween!! The following weekend I have my Goth tea, an afternoon of fun for my VERY diverse group of friends and their kids. Evolved from its beginning 6 years ago when I moved back from NC,its not much of a "tea" anymore. Gone are the little sandwiches that people felt weird eating enough of to get full. Gone are my antique tea pots and the vast array of teas Id serve- no one drinks it and I freak out one of the kids is going to trash the pots! Gone are all the creative "black foods" I got out of the Goth bible- NO ONE eats this stuff, not even the hardcore goths ! One of the kids would always take some on a dare , but just a bite. Id end up thowing out a lot of stuff I couldnt afford to begin with! Now we drink energy drinks and Jones soda out of my gothtini glasses. I buy a small bottle of Capt Morgan or you can get absinthe now in this country. Also the past few years one of the girls has brought Vampire wine and Werewolf wine. No one gets trashed and everyone has something they can put in a fancy glass! We eat Morningstar appetizers and these little salads I top with veggie bacon that I weave into little patterns and bake. No more black cheese cakes or bat shaped cookies!! I set a different table every year, with special stuff that the guests can take home. The kids get goodie bags. I have prizes as well- for everyone. I always have a theme(this year is, the Corpse Bride-have a love affair with yourself!) and everyone is encouraged to dress for it. The kids "judge" and everyone gets a prize. Same with the kids, adults judge. We eat and talk for two hrs or so then I have the closing contest. It changes each year and is based on who comes that year. If I have a lot of readers, we do teams with book trivia,no readers we do a group truth or dare. This year Im going to do a kind of Jepardy-you know how they link a question on there to a subject but the actul question is NOt about the subject? Going to link the questions to things I think people might check out!! So as autumn rolls along, I prepare for an afternoon of chaos, mayhem and a celebration of life with my friends. No one has a bad time!!!
