eating clean: my first week

okay, so... i would say that i eat healthy.

however, i would also like to say that eating clean is a WHOLE NEW BALL GAME.

you take it to a whole new level, especially if you follow Tosca Reno's the Eat-Clean Diet Book.
i did, for the last week, and i feel so different. my muscles feel stronger and leaner. i feel like my biceps, stomach, and butt LOOK different. i know, it sounds weird, but i followed the eating plan to the T, and lifted and did my 45 min of cardio for 5 days during the week... and i could feel/see the difference. so on that note, i'd like to say that i'm going for a second week. LOL.

i paid attention to sugar and sodium content A LOT, and paid the least attention to calorie content. i usually like to put ketchup on my eggwhites when i make them, or dip my veggies in a no fat dressing, but i stayed away from that all week. i ate everything clean. i even COOKED. LOL. my first batch of of chicken, not gonna lie... a bit bland. the second batch, i put lemon juice on with garlic powder, pepper, and onion flakes, and so far, i like that lil mix. i also made whole grain rice and baked yams (ate clean with nothing on them) and i packed apples, oranges, bananas, broccoli, cauliflour, snap peas, spinach, baby carrots. drinking a gallon of plain water a day. i'm eating 5 "mini-meals" a day.

this is a typical day of eating clean for me:

#1 - 1/3 cup oatmeal with flaxseed, handful of blackberries, an apple, and 1/4 cup of eggwhites

#2 - a protein shake, celery sticks

#3 - grilled chicken breast, 1/2 of a baked yam, a banana.

#4 - a packet of tuna (water, not oil), an orange.

#5 - 1/2 cup of eggwhites with salsa on it, 1/2 a cucumber sliced up with pepper sprinkled on it.

and i munch on a ziplock bag of broccoli, snap peas, cauliflour throughout the day.

i might have a cup of plain, hot, green tea before bed if i feel like i want to eat.

i also take a multi-vitamin and fish oil.

so... i'm going to stick with this for a lil while and see what i can do. i just started increasing the weights i'm lifting too, so that's pretty sweet!

oh, and lastly, something i wanted to share. so, on october 18th when i was in my friends wedding, i wore a size 10 bridesmaid dress. this past sunday, on december 7th, i wore a size 7 dress to my company christmas party. so THAT is motivation enough to keep going but i'm feeling pretty damn good, and i kind of like having this book. sometimes, it makes it easier for me to say no. i say, if it's not in the book, i'm not eating it. lol. i even stayed away from the dessert table on sunday at the party, and i had had a couple drinks! (which, to be honest, alcohol is on the no-no list in the book, but c'mon, just a lil treat!)

hope all of you are doing well... still plenty of time left in this month! don't let the holidays or the economy get you down. keep raising the bar!!!

    Wow...I am soooo terrified of eating clean! It is a goal of mine, however, so I'm just looking forward to getting to that point - I'll revisit this blog when I get there!

    i have the Tosca books~~~ eating clean is no-joke!! lol.......its tough but so eye-opening and worth it.. good for you.. i too have been blown away by the amount of sodium i was taking in.. good luck with your second week..jen

    Hi, just stumbled on your blog. I am getting all of Tosca's books for christmas and cant wait to follow it to a T as well. I have been incorporating some of the clean eating changes in my diet and I am already noticing a big difference in how I feel. Keep it up and I will check back in with you to see how you are doing.

    way to go on making the change, and I totally believe what you say about feeling better all around, even in your muscles etc! way to go! heres to a KICK butt 2nd week!

    I find "The EatClean Diet Cookbook" very helpful too! Great recipes and sometimes even just reading the recipes gives you ideas of how to make your other recipes cleaner and healthier!

    That's wonderful Wendi! You go girl!! Isn't clean eating the best thing EVER?? Before Thanksgiving, I started doing clean eating, but got a little side tracked with all the traveling I did. I hope to get her book for xmas this year (I told Santa that I wanted it! LOL) so I can get back on track.
