Are you important enough...?

In my opinion we have all traveled one time or another, along the healthy weight journey. The very typical "Yo-Yo Diet Syndrome. Each diet plan worked for awhile, 5-10-15-25-50-100# and often times more.. then guess what, eventually it would reinforce my beliefs about weight loss. "That it's hard, that it never works, that my body just doesn't respond to losing weight. I can be happy and healthy at any weight can't I?"
Weight loss and weight gain, I feel is directly related to how I feel about myself. I can make excuses, I am too busy to cook healthy, it cost's too much to eat healthy (that's the latest one I used).
Ultimately though, it comes down to, how I am feeling about myself. "How I beat myself up emotionally and psychologically for being fat. ..consequently our physiological response is to reach for comfort food. These foods affect our brains synthesis of certain natural chemicals and these chemicals have a stabilizing effect on our moods and overall general mental functioning." "There are seventy-nine million Americans who are overweight. This means that there are seventy-nine million of us who feel depressed, tired and unfulfilled physically and emotionally because we think, look and feel heavy." Hu Dalconzo-Self Mastery Program
I find those statistics disturbing, and yet in my experience probably very true. Those statements were recorded back in 2004. I imagine it is even higher now.
My intention for this journey along the Spark people path is to not only give away those unwanted "pounds" forever, but to gain self worth and strength..mentally, physically and emotionally, and share what I learn with others.
That every person deserves to love themselves for who they are, and deserves to be healthy. No other person, place or thing can decide for you or me, how I feel and look.
Happy New Year, may this be a blessed year for everyone.
