I'm Having a Ball

Thursday, January 08, 2009

I think I love this stability ball. Or whatever it's proper name is.

When I started the New You boot camp, Coach Nicole said I would need dumb bells and a ball. I have some hand weights but the ball was hidden away somewhere in the attic. Yep, I buy exercise equipment and exercise dvds only to relegate them to closets, attics, under beds, etc.

So I thought I would just modify the workouts she actually used the ball in. Guess what? Thus far, she has used the ball for every workout and the dumb bells for two, and only in one of them were they optional.

Thankfully, I have a generous husband, who climbed the ladder to the attic, searched out that ball (deflated of course) and the hand pump to blow it up. He then pumped the thing full of air for me. What a great guy!

So, day two, I had the ball. And truly I am having a ball. I don't know why the thing was in the attic, but what a difference it makes. I don't think I will do another crunch on the floor, ever. It's not that the crunches are now easier, but I don't feel any back strain. I mean it is actually harder to stay balanced for some of these exercises, but that is kind of the point. And stretching is easier, or I should say more fully accomplished.

I sound silly as a goose. This bit of plastic filled with air, taking up space in our tiny duplex is for now my favorite toy.

I totally understand how you feel. I went out and bought me one the other day. I love it. What better use of plastic and air! I wonder who it was that thought about using a ball in such a manner.

Thank your hubby for getting your ball out for me too - since you're having such a great time on it. You can even work your core muscles just by sitting on it while you watch tv! Glad you're having a ball! I'm right there with you!

    May God bless you!!!
