2009 Fresh Start -- Got my new bodybugg

Friday, January 16, 2009

So, since I am starting down the weight loss path AGAIN, I thought I would get the new bodybugg. Well, actually, my mom bought it for me as a birthday gift, so that was lucky. Nothing was wrong with the old one, but the newer one is a lot smaller and flatter, so will blend in a lot better under clothes when I go back to work in a couple of weeks. And my current law firm is much more conservative the my old one, so that actually matters.

The bugg arrived on Wednesday, so yesterday I set it up. That meant I had to finally weigh myself, which I was not looking forward to. I ate so freely during my pregnancy that I gained more than 60 pounds -- at the end, I was more than 220 pounds! I had never been 200 pounds, let alone more than that, in my life before. At my last doctor appointment 4 weeks ago, I was 205 pounds, which was . . . not great for 6 weeks after having the baby.

I have one of those scales like the have at the doctor's office, with the sliding counterweights. So I got on the scale yesterday, and slid the bottom counterweight to 200 pounds. The beam immediately dropped down. "Hooray!" I thought. "I'm back to being under 200 pounds where I belong!" So I moved the bottom counterweight over to the 150 mark. Then I moved the top one over. . .and over. . . and over, all the way to 49 and 3/4.

Ha ha! 199 3/4 pounds. Hey, it's still under 200! And on the bright side, I did lose 5 pounds in the last 4 weeks. And now that I'm wearing my bugg, there are no more excuses, no more, "I'll start next week." I started logging my food today, so that's the first step.
