One Year Ago

I remember when last Christmas rolled around, I put on a new top that I had bought. I thought it looked so good.....that is until I saw a picture my son had taken of me sitting on my husband's lap. All I could see were the rolls of fat and how fat my face looked. I vowed then and there that I would do something about it....but of course I felt it better to wait until after the holidays were over. And then it was wait until after my daughter and son in law's birthdays on Jan. 9, and then my sister in law's birthday on January 16, 2008. A couple of days after that I was looking at The Biggest Loser website. I was checking out before and after pictures of everyday people who lost weight on their own at home, not people who were ever on the Biggest Loser. One caught my eye because she spoke about a website that helped her to lose her weight. Of course she was talking about SparkPeople. I immediately found the site, and from that day on I was a Sparker!
The past year has been amazing. I have made some wonderful friends through my teams, and have gotten so much support from them. I couldn't believe all that the website offered, and the fact that it was free was amazing. On January 19, 2008 I started my weight loss journey. At the time I weighed 178.5 lbs, was wearing a size 2X on top, and a tight size 16 on the bottom. My cholesterol and triglycerides were a little high, and I had back problems, along with other aches and pains that come from being overweight. My measurements were almost straight down my body. I had no figure at all!!
Fast forward 1 year to today. First and foremost, I am healthier. My cholesterol and triglycerides are way down. Except when I over-exercise my back problems are practically non-existent. I can do things I never thought I would be able to again. As far as my body...... I am really liking it again. I am down 40 lbs, have lost a total of 29", and went down to a size large or medium (and an occasional small) on the top, to a size 6 or 8 on the bottom. My transformation continues to amaze me. I'm not through with my weight loss journey. I would like to tone up now. DH and I have joined a gym, which I never thought would be possible. I use my nutrition tracker all the time, and am so aware of what I am putting into my mouth before it goes in....unlike in the past, when everything and anything went in.
I know I could not have made it without the support and kindness of all of you..... for the gift of your friendships I am so grateful. Just saying thank you doesn't seem enough, but those are two words that I mean from the bottom of my heart.
On my Spark Page you will see 2 pictures. They are the ones I mentioned above. I guess they are my "before and after" shots.
Again, THANK YOU !!!
