Trying to honor my body

February is always a hard month for me. I start getting really sick of the winter weather and the dark and cold, and my fibromyalgia symptoms always seem to be worst this time of year. I have been struggling lately with my fitness routine since I do not feel very good a lot of the time. I feel like I made so much progress in the summer and fall and I am losing it!
I have been conflicted about the "best" thing to do. I notice much greater results in terms of muscle tone, gains in strength, and so on from exercises like lifting weights and doing more challenging cardio, but so often this time of year my body does not feel up to it. It depresses me to see that my last blog is about pushups - I still do them sometimes but can not do as many any more (I can only do about 5-6 "real" ones).
I go back and forth on how I should exercise when I feel this way - push on ahead and try to make more progress, but risk making myself feel really rotten by overdoing it, or really take it easy and do workouts like some gentle yoga and maybe Pilates. I think the gentler things would actually make me feel better, but I do not want to lose the results of my hard work.
So, that brings me to "honoring my body." I am trying to exercise and be healthier in order to HELP my body and improve my quality of life. Ultimately, I need to honor my body by doing what is best for it. I hope I can find what that is!
