A lesson well taught...

Monday, February 16, 2009

I just wanted to share this story with all of you...on the way to bring my 10 yr old son to his grandma's house we were having a lil chat about emotional eating. I can see him following in my footsteps and god I don't want him to struggle with his weight like I did my whole life. So I was trying to explain to him that people tend to eat for emotional reasons...like if there happy they want to celebrate, sad...they want to make themselves feel better, bored...so they pick up food to fill that space...etc. I was trying to explain that we only need to eat when were physically hungry. Well last night I saw a bag of sour cream and onion chips in my older sons room, grab the bag, went to my room and proceeded to chow down. My 10 yr old came in to the room...looked at me and said, "Mom, thats emotional eating your bored aren't you?" I said, "Your absolutely right I am bored." Well he came right over to me and grabbed the bag and said, "I don't want to hear nothing your not eating these." as he folded the bag back up and brought them down to the kitchen. My lil guy saved me from eating the rest of what was in that bag thank god I only had about a serving size before he came in...I, later thanked him for looking out for me...muah I love you baby! It was just the cutest thing I had to share this. Have a great day everyone!

Wow, makes you think about what you do compared to what you say.....he knew from your conversation that people emotionally eat, and he knew that was what you were doing........and he stopped you! What you said to him really must have sank in. You want to help him not go down this path, and at the same time he is helping you....that is really great!
