Scale Frustrations

So, as I confessed here in my last post, I weighed myself an extra day last week. That extra weigh-in had me down to 139 pounds, and I was ecstatic to be in the 130s again! But, I knew it would come back to bite me in the butt, and it did. I started my day at the doctor's office this morning (time for my routine thyroid labs), and the scale there said I was down to 138.6. WOOT!!!! But, because I wanted to be faithful to my ONE scale - a doctor's scale we have at work - I weighed myself again before lunch. Well, that scale obviously did not appreciate my being so faithful. The darn thing said I weighed 141, only half a pound less than one week ago. Boo. So then, I weighed myself at the gym. That scale said 140. Since it's right in between the other two scales, I'm gonna' stick with 140 and call it quits with the scales until next week.

My day was not all doom and gloom, though: I ran into an aerobics instructor in the bathroom at the gym. She hadn't seen me for a couple months, and she did a double take. "You've MELTED!" she said. Well, needless to say, my heart melted upon hearing that.

"MELTED!?!? ME?!" Wow. I love it!!! emoticon

    katie, i think you can't really go by those weigh-ins at different times of the day. to keep fluctuation minimal i weigh myself in the morning, after emptying everything i can (you know...) and before drinking and eating anything. i know that after my first glass of water i already weigh half a pound more.
    so, if we want to obsess a little about it, probably neither of the weights is 100% - one was taken on a different scale as your regular weigh in, the other was taken after breakfast. forget about it. look forward to your next weigh-in. i'm sure you'll be happy with continued "melting"!

    Congratulations on the compliment! It's always nice to have someone recognize our efforts!

    And I have to say I love the pic you have up of you now! You look fantastic!

    I wouldn't worry TOO much about the scale - focus on all the other positives you've got going, cuz there's plenty of them! The scale will move soon enough....
