Easy Homemade Microwave Popcorn
Saturday, February 28, 2009
I just discovered something great!! (Lots of people probably already knew about this, but I thought I'd share anyway!)
Did you know you can make microwave popcorn by just throwing some plain old popcorn kernels into a paper bag and microwaving it? I just did it, and it worked great!
Here are the specifics:
1/4 cup of popcorn
1 teaspoon olive oil
paper lunch bag
You just throw the popcorn in the bag. Add the oil and the salt. (I've read that you can even skip the olive oil, but it's so little, I wasn't too concerned.) Fold the top over once (not a big fold, or there won't be enough room for the popcorn to pop). Staple twice - one at each end. (The staples WILL NOT mess up your microwave.)
I hit the popcorn setting on my microwave and just waited until the pops were 3-5 seconds apart. When it was done popping, I sprayed it with zero calorie butter-flavored cooking spray and sprinkled it with some Molly McButter Cheese-Flavored Sprinkles.
So easy and SO, SO, SO cheap (like 10 cents/bag)!!
Try it! It's fun!
